Boise State recruiting thread 2018

Recommended Posts

Boise starting to get an Oklahoma connection. Signed Marcus Dickinson last year, just got a commitment from the 123rd ranked player in the country, 4 **** and 2nd ranked in player Oklahoma Trey'von Hopkins, and now they just offered his AAU teammate and 4th ranked player in Oklahoma Jaycson Bereal (6'7" 200# SF).

I'm not sure where the connection came from but they seem to be hitting it hard and having success there.

Guessing Bereal is a three star? Found some tape on him and he looks like a solid player. Moves well with the ball in his hands, good slasher, and plays with a high motor. Would be a great addition for BSU. Good luck!

I haven't found a ton on him. His HS team lost in the 6A Championship game. Looks pretty athletic. I was kinda hoping someone here knew more about him.

Fordham transfer Christian Sengfelder came in at 6-9, 246 #s. I think he is gunna contribute a lot for Boise this year. He's exactly the type of guy Leon likes. Sr, Slow, big who can shoot from the outside. Averaged 11 ppg and 6 rpg over his career. I think he'll be a quicker and more talented Nick Duncan.

3*** PG PJ Byrd, visited Boise with current commits Jaycson Bereal and Trey'von Hopkins. Most crystal ball predictions have him committing to Boise, including one that just posted today when he returned home from his trip. Add in WCC level Rice's kid as a walk on and this looks like Leon's best class. They just need to get a big in this class and they are set.

Michael Frazier, 6'-8" PF from SLC just committed.#347 player in the country (#87 PF) according to Scout. #2 overall out of the state of Utah (behind a 7 footer).

They needed a big in this class. Looks decent.

Too bad Trey-von Hopkins decommitted, or else that class would be done and looking really good.

So far:

Max Rice, SG - Walk on, but scholarship worthy. Gets free tuition being Leon's son.
Jayscon Bereal, SF - Athletic wing who could be a future star.
Mikey Frazier, C - Under recruited Center who should get a year to develop as he'll come in when Wacker, Jorch, and Haney are SRs. Not overly athletic, but good size at 6'10" 240#.
Riley Abercrombie, PF - Another Aussie, but playing in Texas. Great shooter who can get to the basket. At 6'8" 210# he needs to put on a few pounds, but he look like a good 4 year prospect. Had a ton of offers, but all of them from Mid-Major type programs.

Boise has a good shot at Trey McGowens (SG). He is a high level 3*** guy. That would be a pretty solid class. No superstars in it, but a lot of good prospects and good balance.

Boise inked all 5 of their recruits in the early signing period (Max Rice is techinically a walk-on because he already gets free tuition because of his dad, but he had multiple WCC offers). The others are SF Jaycson Bereal, SF (probably a 4 in Rice's system) Riley Abercrombie, C/PF Michael Frazier, and JC PG Patrick Dembley. No real stars, but all will be contributors. Bereal has the most upside. Abercrombie seems the most "Rice-like."
