Colorado State 2018 Recruiting

This is incorrect.  We've lost some guys but the last 2 cycles have been very good for the Rams.

They have been good, but @kingpotato is correct.  We do seem to lose a couple of guys each year right before, or on signing day.  I don't see this as a real bad thing.  It's a symptom of Bobo swinging for the seats.  We do lose a couple, but his mentality of recruiting "over our heads" has definitely upgraded the overall level of talent we don't lose.  We really need a MWC championship to put an end to last minute attrition.

He said our best recruits don't make it to campus. i'm sure that he's referring to guys like Devron Davis last year and Braylon Sanders this year and he's talking about "on paper"  well Good ol'e Devron Davis hardly played last year for UTSA.  Guys like Gallup, Arjay Jean, Kinsey coud be argued as some of our best recruits.  Sure we've lost some but I'm still very impressed with some of the guys CSU is gtting and I believe CSU is recruiting very close to Boise right now. In Fact, our latest commit has a boise offer as well as Boddie from last year.

You're right, a championship would help us on the signing day attrition but I think our commitment to the program is helping more.

That's been the difference between Pete and Harsin. Pete would lock up his guys early and part of the offer was that if they even tripped anywhere else their offer was off the table. He did well with that (frustrating for some fans when a guy would trip somewhere and want to re-committ and couldn't), but he didn't waste time on recruits he didn't think he had a good chance of landing.

Harsin swings for the fences. He has gotten at least one 4**** in every class and sometimes two. He had three last year until one late defection. His classes tend to come together late with his bigger recruits being later in the process. Sometimes that means not completely filling classes. This year they entered camp with 79 scholarship players. They gave two to walk-ons, but they still have 4 scholarships available, but the staff doesn't give them away just to use it.

This is why I like the early signing period.  The swing for the fence recruits that verbal early lose their leverage to string you along until a P5 gets a defection and has to rob your class.  They don't have to sign early, but they send a pretty strong signal if they don't and it gives a G5 coach a chance to play a little hardball.  Probably the reason Saban came out against the whole thing.

Yeah, it's a huge benefit to the non-top tier schools. Many of the top recruits love the recruiting game and the attention, so a lot of those schools get strung along for months and when they whiff they just go after smaller school commits. I think this will be a really good thing.

This was the weekend to have them here.  That was a P5 atmosphere, nothing less.  It will help with the prospects.

3* LB Gerald Nathan from Charlotte, North Carolina committed. A dozen or so offers with a couple P5 sprinkled in there. Good speed at MLB. I like him a lot

Things could not have worked out better.  A beat down of a P5 team in a gorgeous stadium with an energetic crowd.  Gives a kid a lot to think about.

And a few minutes with a well placed booster.  "We'd love to have you here son.  Your the kind of young man we're developing around.  Did I mention that I had lunch with a well placed B1G booster last week?  I'm not at liberty to say what we talked about (because it was porn sites and golf) but I'm thinking the future looks bright for CSU.  Why don't you come on board?"

3* DE Brandon Derrow from

Ohio commits. Had 15 offers and a few P5. He said he was sold on the Oregon State and new stadium experience and couldn't miss the chance to be a part of it

He's definitely the first commit we can undoubtedly credit the new stadium for. Hopefully we can hang on, Big10 teams should probably swoop in late.

#19 on board. 2* TE from Charlotte, NC Gary Williams...some smaller school offers plus Marshall. Teammate of current 3* LB commit Gerald Nathan. Looks like a physical blocker and a good receiving threat
