ExplorerSunDevil
......... try to get a head coach that is already established in the college ranks, like these 2 for example: Greg McDermott - Creighton(The last Creighton coach to go West has had great success, why not try him?) Mark Turgeon - Maryland(Kansas alum not currently loyal to Maryland and could leave them at any time) In my opinion, what you need is a coach that is succeeding at a good program stuck in a power conference overflowing with good coaches. You've got to get somebody who is doing a good job, but is underappreciated by his current fan base. UNM is our last hope of salvaging what has been a boring and uninteresting coaching carousel in 16-17 Make it happen Lobos, take the risk and give McDermott and/or Turgeon interviews! nmlongbow
McDermott makes 1.4 mil per year and isn't ready to leave. Turgeon makes 2.6 mil per year. UNM can't even match McDermotts salary now after paying Neals buyout. Both of those guys are too expensive. Mark Gottfried is a possibility since he was just fired but nobody seems to really know where our AD is going right now.
PTR
"Hey Greg, Paul Krebs here. How would you like to sign a backloaded contract take a 65 percent pay cut to come coach in our rapidly declining one bid basketball league? P.S. our commissioner has decided to take us off television. Hugs and kisses.
ExplorerSunDevil
Ive got to think that somebody would take a slight pay cut to coach the lobos though, money cant be everything.

BestintheWest
UNM should hire god. Heard the guy is pretty good in the motivational department and he could simply deny the prayers of the opposing coaches and players which would put UNM at a huge advantage. It's ABQ, in a currently weak conference. Why on God's green would a Big East or Big Ten coach half (or quarter) their pay to go to a school with less current success, and less potential? Sorry Sun Devil, those two coaches are not going to do that. Whoever said Gottfried may have a point. Perhaps Crean as well.

God would be content with 10% of every Lobos fans' income as compensation.
