Hair Thompson? - Do you want a change in MWC leadership?

What did it for me, was 2015 MWC champion San Diego State got hosed and played in the Hawaii Bowl instead of playing in the Las Vegas Bowl. Thompson allowed YBU and Utah to play in the MWC tie in bowl. Think about the difference in cost for the university, families and students regarding travel. He has a thing for YBU so let him go there. Thompson has also been poor in negotiations with past TV deals. He needs to go. JMO.

That's embarrassing.

The MWC had a better bowl opponent when it had BYU/Utah/TCU and played the CUSA Champion in the Liberty Bowl. Both teams were usually RANKED.

IMO, Hair Thompson should secure a bowl alliance with the Sun Belt to have a "Champions Game" in New Orleans (most recent home of the Final Four).

If that deal would've been in place these past couple years the MWC CHAMPION could've landed a better bowl opponent like TOP 25 Coastal or App State.

It hurts conference perception when a MWC Champion loses to any mid-tier Pac 12 teams.

Outside of the BRUTAL (MAC heavy) Bowl predicament, I think Thompson does a good job.

When Utah crushed them at the LV Bowl years ago, he claimed he was never coming back. It’s always silly to make ‘forever’ promises.

I agree that the MWC needs new leadership, in both the Commissioners Office, and in the BoR offices who make the final decisions of things. Not inviting WSU wasn't solely a Hair decision, it was the BoR decision that he had to relay.

To be fair Having to travel to Kansas every few weeks could be a bit annoying.  But yeah I could see your point. I'm just hoping Hair can get us to the conference this time next year.

In 2015, BYU was contracted to play in the Vegas Bowl against the Pac #5. It was a win-win for the Vegas Bowl (sell out) and the fan bases of both Schools.

There was nada Hair or the MW could do as BYU was contracted to be in the MW slot that year.

How so? Coming from a basketball scheduling perspective, wouldn't it be just once, according to the home and home conference schedule? WSU to the MWC, and including Gonzaga, would be for basketball only. Unless you're including the womens basketball team, which would make two trips a year? If you're thinking the invite was for all olympic sports, then yes.

And btw, I'm good with having all your Olympic sports join and not just basketball... that's adding two awesome baseball programs that could be added to the schedule!

I don't really have a dog in this fight but from an outside perspective to me it seems he should have been a bit more aggressive during the recent expansion and fought for a better TV deal to ensure it.  To me it is only a matter of time until a team or 2 are poached,  or if the rumors of Air Force and Colorado State were true teams leave for what they see are greener pastures.  Would have been better to be proactive rather than reactive.

Should not have happened. Hawaii Bowl was a BS second choice for SDSU. The Aztecs would have been better off playing in some potato salad or chip bowl than playing in Hawaii. The cost for families and fans was ridiculous. Let's not forget about two MWC teams Nevada and CSU playing in the same bowl game in 2015 as well. Seriously? The MWC deserves better representation. It's time for Hair to go bye bye. Or go represent YBU.

For me, the kicker to dump him is when the AAC gets better bowls than our teams who are ranked higher then theirs at regular season end.  Yeah, yeah I realize there are contractual bowl obligations, but I sense he throws in the towel during bowl negotiations.  Aresco walks circles around him.

Zero point in contracting East Coast Bowl games. MW fans aren't likely to travel beyond Texas.
