is it painfully obvious yet that the MWC needs Shocker's help?

Good. Maybe then we can get back to just enjoying the college sports we have instead of constantly whining about what we don't have.

I want BYU to schedule UNR in football and basketball.

You have any openings next season? We could definitely use a home and home against a top-100 team.

I really want this to happen as WSU to the AAC makes a lot of sense and helps both sides.

I really wanted them in the MW, they'd pay their way with their basketball credits alone, nothing would need to change in the MW football side of it.

Gonzaga joining the MWC is fantasy land.

You were painfully right, Rogue..

Gonzaga or Wichita State could have made the MWC relevant...

The MWC doesn't have a "Villanova-type" program to bring shine to the others...

Thompson has a large task ahead of him.

#1 reason the MWC presidents want nothing to do with Wichita State is the Koch Brothers.  Why would you want to be part of the PR effort to improve their image?

https://www.newyorker.com/news/sporting-scene/how-charles-koch-turned-wichita-state-into-a-college-basketball-powerhouse

"The Kochs stand out among American philanthropists. They have marshalled their cash to sway elections, alter public policy, and bankroll Supreme Court cases. During the 2018 midterms, the Kochs’ network plans to spend four hundred million dollars to elect conservative candidates. And their interest in sports has lately expanded. Koch Industries spent an estimated eight million to twelve million dollars for ads during the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics this year, according to the Wall Street Journal. (The company also advertises prominently on the sidelines of college basketball games.) The ads show a diverse collection of people facing adversity with determination and spirit; in one, a figure skater falls and falls until, as the music rises, she finally lands her jump. The company’s chief communications and marketing officer told the Journal that the ads addressed “a misperception about Charles and David Koch.”

You may be joking, bruin, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the CSU Chancellor's Office wouldn't try to persuade the presidents of SDSU, Fresno and SJSU to vote against admission of Wichita State. Fred and Bill Koch may be Republicans but they aren't batshit crazy like their two brothers, who followed in the steps of the batshit crazy father who was one of the founders of the John Birch Society. I don't know who Fred and Bill donate money to but think they would pass muster despite their political affiliation but I'll bet even most of Wyoming's regents would stir clear of Charles and David.

Boom goes the dynamite.

easy answer...clean money and dirty money all spends the same.

I don't care where they get it as long as they get it.

While I'm glad you've accepted my point about the structure of CSU, I don't think that this particular issue is one where any campus president would have to check with the Chancellor.

As you say, Charles and David Koch are probably people you want to steer clear of and Yes, they are the Koch's who are supporting Wichita State Basketball.

If you read through the article I linked, Charles Koch personally called the Shocker's head coach when he was thinking of coaching at Alabama and, it's implied, donated enough money to nearly double his salary.

The article repeats a number of ridiculously obsequious quotes about the Koch brothers that Wichita's coach has said about Charles and David Koch.   Heavy duty Hoovering (if you know Gary Radnich-ism's which I believe you do).

Suggesting the presidents of schools like Tulane, Temple, and UCONN have less scruples than the MWC presidents is speculation on your part. Anyway, this is the sports forum ... if you're going to get political, take your comments to the OT forum.

Seems yer ill informed... Do yer homework before judging.  How many folks you know who worked in the USSR for 2 decades following WWII building oil refineries, and came away praising that glorious totalitarian system??  Zero!  He saw the horrifying facts of living in that totalitarian state where the people were completely controlled & oppressed while the Fat-Cat party leaders & oligarchs ate caviar.  Had you seen what he had, you might've formed your own Anti-Communism society. He passed his factual stories onto his sons.  As smart lads, they made their own minds up to continue to fight like hell to keep our people as free as possible to make their own way in this life, and as "un-observed" as possible by any Progressive State (always progressing toward Ameritopia).

You seem like a smart guy... But really... don't blather haughtily about how loony Mr. Koch was, and his sons, to a guy who worked with the Koch's in Wichita after playing sports for the SHockers.  Until you've walked in that man's shoes, you are CLUELESS.  Right???

No.

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

Pinko Progresso... is  that you???  :)

While I was up visiting in Coeur De Alene, ID... I flew into Spoke and met lots of Zag fans, some of whom I'd met last year at this same Final 4 time.  From them I heard very little fear or hesitancy about joining the MWC.  In fact they seemed rather pumped about getting outta the WCC High School Gyms, and playing all games vs. GREATER competition & in great D1A Arenas.... and in great destination cities.

What was your crowd of Zag fans saying about that possibility??

If Zag fans are disappointed... at least they can't say we tried to save them from more boredom in the WCC.
