thelawlorfaithful
That is funny. Damn activist judges checking our activist president. Quote We’re all sitting in the dugout. Too many people do not understand as Americans our duty is to uphold the Constitution , not the president. 3 Quote I can't sing and I can't dance but I can make romance - Macho Man Randy Savage

retrofade
I think I'm just going to turn this into the Amash vs. Trump thread.

BSUTOP25
This just goes to prove there is only one true resistance movement to the authoritarian right and left ... and that is the libertarian resistance. Democrats will talk a big game with their rhetoric but in reality they support an authoritarian executive branch. Republicans will for the most part go along with Trump with backroom deals (aka "assurances" for the TCSUFs). I applaud Justin Amash for substantively opposing the regime.

Guys like Amash, Polis, Massie, and to a lesser extent; Paul and Wyden in the Senate are our last hope in Congress right now. I've soured a lot on Rand lately though; he's falling in lock-step with Trump on a lot of things, and only departing from the establishment on issues that he knows will pass anyway. Unfortunately, Amash is disliked enough by the establishment that I doubt he'll be able to make a run for anything outside of continued re-election in his district. I could see Massie running for McConnell's seat if/when he eventually retires; but that won't be until 2020 at the earliest. There are some decent Liberty PACs out there, but they've done stupid shit like getting Kerry Bentivolio elected to Congress. The Libertarian Party needs to make inroads in Congressional elections and at the local level if they ever hope of affecting any change on the National level. If any of the guys I mentioned above were to switch to the Libertarian Party, they would almost certainly lose their next bid for reelection, as both parties would throw everything they had at them.

I don't think twittering qualifies as substantively opposing the regime. It's nice that he is saying something. But being a congressman in a blood red district means you can tilt at windmills without fear of consequences. 2 Quote We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. He's pissed off people in the GOP establishment. Tried to put forth his own budgets, and gone about things the right way. Put forth legislation of his own, and tried to build coalitions to support his stances. Hell, he had enough support against the NSA spying that the White House intervened and killed his House Bill amendment, something that pretty much never happens.
