To be semi-serious for just a second -- the writer could have just as easily left SMU, Rice and/or Tulane out of the B12/16 and still have had at least 5 teams in TX with both the Houston and Dallas/Ft Worth markets covered. This would have allowed them to add Boise St, CO St. and/or WYO to that conference. That would have allowed for a 5th California team like SDSU, Fresno St or SJSU and/or a 2nd NV or UT team. HighNTight_SD
Just now, kalua pig said: the money that the pac shares with sdsu will just be an expense.that would be a bad business decision. the money that the Pac shares with any teams outside of the first 10 was already a bad business decision ... adding UNLV, UH & BSU would not change that. Adding SDSU and the San Diego market would be a better business decision for the Pac than adding both Boise St and Hawaii. Getting the B12 to 16 by adding CSU, BYU & BSU would get them more than adding Tulane, Rice & SMU Getting the P12 to 16 by adding UH, UNLV & SDSU would be better for the them than not adding SDSU ... it is basic ecomomics

No matter how many times you bring up the one time TV rating of some SDSU football game compared to a PAC12 game. It doesn't change the fact the PAC12 owns the entire state of California. There is a clear reason why The Mtn never reached any cable companies in San Diego. TV doesn't give a shit about SDSU. All while The Mtn went live on day one in the states of Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Another reason why SDSU doesn't bring or penetrate the SD market is their low attendance average for football games. 2nd largest market in MWC with a nice string of winning seasons yet SDSU can't even break 40K in attendance. SDSU is the 5th choice in that state. As a P5 candidate. You're done. No P5 conference wants that. They want a school that can bring their entire market or better yet. The entire state. Only 3 schools in the MWC bring that. UNM, CSU and Hawaii.

You're a moron Because the PAC CCG and MW CCG last year weren't just some game, they were played on the same day with KO only 30 minutes apart and USC and Stanford played in the game and San Diegans still chose to watch SDSU v AFA (which honestly is a fawkin shocker). But they did, so just because you're ignorant of the fact doesn't discount that reality.

Why are UNM games seldom picked up by either CBS or ESPN? Why is SDSU the backbone of the MWC CBSsn contract? CA is the most populous state in the nation with 3 of the largest cities/markets in the country. We are not some small state with a single market like New Mexico. Also, the fact that the MW CCG did better than the PAC CCG but not many people actually came to the game confirms what many San Diegans already know. The new MW/WAC has significantly harmed fan interest. We're playing better now than we have in just about 2 generations, but interest is fairly low...while BB interest is high. That tells me fans don't think much of our schedule (8 MW games a year, non against Boise) and they also know now that winning the MW gets you a mid-level bowl.
