NDSU to MWC....wheres the Invite?

Recommended Posts

NDSU is still waiting for its invitation.  71-5 over last 5 years 4 straight fcs titles and hopefully 5th in 2 weeks.

NDSU 8-3 vs FBS teams, beating kansas st, colorado st, minnesota, iowa st , kansas.

NDSU only seats 19,000 (sold out last 5 years before the season started) but its amazing and loud & could expand to 22,500 (MWC averages 23,500)

NDSU has new $44 million basketball arena, basketball team been to back to back Big Dances.

NDSU deserves a MWC invite, Fargo flies to Denver/Salt Lake City couple times a week, make it happen!

Problem is if NDSU comes up and sucks ass, we're stuck with a shit team in small market.

I really do like NDSU and think right now they'd phukk up most of the MWC, but I just don't see this happening at all.

NDSU has 3 losing seasons in 60 years.  zero chance they "suck ass"  with 22 more scholly's we'll be poaching the fcs teams best 2-3 players in the area.  Small Market?  how is Fargo smaller than laramie? Fargo is at 165,000 and State of ND is 789,000 and 500,000 of them are NDSU fans, not to mention 50% of NDSU are Minnesota students... you gotta factor that in.

Fox Sports North would cover Minneapolis, Minnesota and all of North & South Dakota.  Plenty of exposure for the Mountain West.

Right Now NDSU football games are on Broadcast TV in Dakota's and Northern Minnesota...  are any MWC teams on Broadcast TV?

Tell us exactly how Fargo and Minneapolis figure into the MWC footprint.  It's not up to me, so I'm just trying to ask you to make your case.

You'll have to change your school colors. CSU has dibs on green and gold... you DON'T mess with the Rammies colors! Once they're drafted by the BIG/B12, then you go back to green and gold. :P

Interesting that you bring this up.  Rumor has it that the negotiations with Baylor are really the sticking point, school colors and all.  We'd go orange, but Okie State objected.  Serious, we'd be P5 if we could embrace Teal and Pink. :D

as you can see in the videos (and when NDSU beat Colorado state in 2013) that NDSU isnt the same green/gold

Broadcast tv = NBC, CBS, ABC , FOX on local channels statewide, to be seen on all mediums...   heck wisconsin/minnesota is only on big ten!

North Dakota has mountains in the badlands in south west corner of state!! ;)

So you get in a plane and fly, big deal.   our Olympic teams would help the MWC as well, plenty of NCAA appearances by them, Softball has been sweet 16, volleyball, soccer have had success.   Wrestling team is in BIG 12, Baseball  is good and Track is amazing on both sides.  Golf (amy anderson, lpga tour) etc etc etc

Go and be merry in the MAC. Merry Xmas.

I can sympathize with the TC as it wasn't that many years ago where BSU fans were frustrated on the MWC dragging it's feet inviting us. Having said that, there isn't really a good argument for adding NDSU now.

1. Creates an uneven number of teams in the conference unless a second team is added, and no real good option to pair with NDSU at the moment.

2. NDSU isn't going anywhere else. They'll be there if the MWC changes it's mind and wants to add them later so there's no rush.

3. Meanwhile, depending on how the next round of realignment shakes out, there might be opportunities to add more appealing candidates in.

4. It IS a small market. Yes, Wyoming is as well. But Wyoming is already in. Having a market that's would be one of the worst in the conference if they get added isn't a glowing recommendation. It's a money thing. NDSU has to bring in enough money via TV viewership that they aren't causing each existing conference member to get a lower per year payout by adding another mouth to feed.

5. Getting the tournament invite from the Summit conference isn't a huge selling point.

6. The geography sucks. It isn't just about football travel. It's the travel for ALL THE OTHER sports that the conference participates in. That's some big travel costs.

I could go on but the point is that there just isn't a really compelling and urgent case to add them immediately when they'll still be there if the conference ever needs to backfill.

Mike Bronson votes to add them now.  Mike Bronson thinks that after they dominate the Mwc for 2 years, the Big XII will surely covet them as an expansion  candidate.

The MWC... it seems like they're getting somewhere but not getting anywhere.

Honestly, I think they can pull their weight in the MAC.  I just don't think enough folks in the MWC give a crap about NDSU.  Athletically, I think they can pull their weight in the MWC, but I just don't see them getting a lot of acceptance in a West Coast/Rocky Mtn conference. Best bet for NDSU, if they really want to put out the cash to go FBS is to find a way to get into the MAC with an eventual goal of joining a "best of the rest" deal.  it's a tall ladder to climb from a political standpoint.  Best of luck to them if they decide to go that route.

Ditto.  Been saying this for a couple of years.

Mike Bronson would work a trade.  Wyoming and San jose to the FCS for ndst and utsa.
