Carlos Johnson UNLV

Carlos Johnson 3 star from findlay prep commits to Rebels. I admit I'm a little baffled. I don't quite understand why we are taking commitments from these guys at this point. We have already got Justin Jackson coming in at small forward. Rice must really not expect to land one of the other bigs we're recruiting.

I cant believe UNLV took him. I'm shocked actually. However, I'm not a fan of his game (from reports and highlights). I was confused when sdsu "offered" him. He seems like he doesnt have a position.

Your administration is the reason why our basketball league is bleeding out currently. If you didn't insist on San Jose being in the MWC, so you guys would have someone that votes similar to SDSU, every team in the MWC wouldn't have to play 2 games vs. a team with a 330 RPI ranking EVERY season.

Findlay Prep’s Carlos Johnson commits to UNLV

UNLV’s connection to Findlay Prep got a little stronger today as class of 2016 wing Carlos Johnson became the latest Pilot to commit to the Rebels.

“I choose UNLV because it is a great fit for me and my family and I love the city of Las Vegas,” Johnson said in a statement.

Johnson recently transferred to Findlay Prep. He played last season at El Cerrito High near Berkeley, Calif., where he averaged 15.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

I'm kind of puzzled why so many are confused we took this kid. We got killed last year by only having 6-7 players, Rice seems to be utilizing a full bench from here on out. You cant have a roster full of 5* players. This kid was brought in as a role player off the bench, I think it's a great pickup. According to everyone who knows about him, he has a nonstop motor, he is tough as nails, and he will spend the year getting better at Findlay against top competition. He sounds like the perfect type of recruit we need to come off the bench.

exactly. Not a 5* princess, but a real baller.

Not a fan of this pick up. I understand that more guys may leave. But still, hold out for kobi, and then if we don't get him, look at other options. I'm sure this kid would still be sitting around at that point. Now we will have to have an extra 2 guys leave (outside the seniors) to even be able to land kobi.

Not only will we probably land Kobi Simmons, we will probably land a four star big man.

13 scholarships to fill.

Not sure where the confusion is. There is a logjam up and down the roster already. These kids obviously wanna be 4 year guys or get in and get out with a solid resume for a transfer.

All is well, For Rice is gone.

@ph90702 I hate to break this to you, but you're still wrong. You made two statements. First, that it was probable UNLV would land Kobi Simmons. Second, that the national experts were saying Kobi would land at UNLV. Even if you say Kentucky doesn't want him, they are tied with Ohio State. And since I did look at the data closely I saw that UNLV is actually on a slight downward trend. Earlier this week UNLV was at 30% and now they are down to 25%. I could give you more examples of how you are wrong, but I'm sure you just calle clueless or a moron and offer nothing of any substance to back up anything you say.

You're still wrong.  Go away now.
