Now is the time for Hawaii to pull the trigger on Chow

Recommended Posts

Bye week next week. 2 weeks to prepare for Rice and the conference schedule. Either fire Chow or his OC and replace him with June Jones. Would be great to get JJ has our OC now and leave storming Norman as the head coach.  Kill 2 birds with one stone. Norm keeps on recruiting which he's good at or better than JJ anyway.

Agreed. However, aren't your financial shortcomings going to guarantee the guy hangs around until the end of November?

Lol, you can't go from a pro set to a RNS in two weeks.

Doesn't matter. We don't have any type of offense right now. Call it what you  like but don't call it an offense.

I find it hard to believe JJ would ever come back as chow's oc, and chow's raging ego wouldn't allow it.  But you are right time is over due to can that clown.  wonder what bj's doing?  hiding under his bed?

ok, but i think  JJ could get some better production out of the passing game even if he had to run the pro set.

I'd wait until the end of the season and reevaluate. At least you're competitive this year, so I think you are improving. Besides, the rest of us suck too so you might do ok in conference

Kinda seems like you'e running into a Michigan scenario here. If you don't commit to a different system for 5 years and switch to yet another one, you're just never going to have the developed personnel for any system and will be futile in everything.

JJ can do it. He proven it with Hawaii and SMU. Bowl games in his 1st and 2nd seasons.

gotta go with warbow on that.  JJ turned the program around that first year with von appen's players.   maybe lightning can strike twice.  But in 2 weeks ?  That's the rub.  I'd be willing to bet that in two weeks he'd have the Warriors better prepared to play the owls.  All moot it's gonna take more than 2 weeks for bj to find his balls and do something.

Here is what Hawaii should do if they were smart.  Contact Tony Dungy and ask him which AfrAm NFL coaches deserve a HC position, but have not been given the opportunity.   Hire one of his recommendations because they'll be driven to do well.  He probably won't stick around if he turns Hawaii into a winner, but he will have set a foundation and that's important.

Umm, maybe we should go to the league of womens voters and ask which women is ready for a head coaching job also. Come'un man, don't really care who we get as long as he/she brings us a winner.

Norm Chow has lost faith of just about everyone.  The radio announcer said that the drive of the game was the bus ride to the stadium.

The benefit of firing Chow right now would be exhausting the mandatory waiting period, in which the job has to be publicly posted for about 10 business days before another coach can be hired.  In 2011, they requested and received an exemption from that requirement, however I don't think they'll get that exemption this time.  I may be wrong though.

Guy wanted the job when we had a job offer between 500-900k the last coaching search and the coaching search before that when Mack was named HC. Was actually named the HC for a short time (was on twitter by our local sportscaster) before our former President (Greenwood) vetoed it, according to reports our former AD wanted him but some higher ups didn't, and the job going to Chow.

Although who knows now that he is with the Falcons

It still astounds me that we're in this mess because our know-nothing university president overruled her AD and his search committee to hire Chow.
