If Rice loves UNLV like his supporters claim he should resign, I want to see what he is made of really.

 

Why would you expect him to do that?  He has to do what is right for his career.  He should not resign.

I try to be rational, sometimes emotions get the better of everyone. I like Dave , I want him to do well because I am an alum and a fan. I care about the school and the team and I know Dave does too. If Dave is doing well as a coach the team is winning, if he isn't we get what we have right now. A team of quality players with no direction. That falls not just on Rice but the entire staff.

 

I'm a realist, I know it's not 1990 and only 3 schools from non power conferences have made a Final 4 since us well if you want to count when Louisville and Marquette in CUSA.

There are plenty of quality coaches UNLV could hire if the boosters were willing to pay up.... I doubt Wichita State could pay Gregg Marshall more than what UNLV could.

BYU played Wichita State earlier this season.  I don't think UNLV fans would enjoy their style of play.  A very slow down, grind it team, from what I saw.  Kind of a Lon Kruger sort of philosophy.

Idc tbh. I love Witichta State. We faced them once in 2012 and he habded Dave Rice's first loss as a head coach.

 

 

Kruger's emotional compared to Rice. At least Kruger would CLAP.

 

There is no defense I can make after tonight. Unacceptable performance in a season of unacceptable home losses. I can't take one positive out of this for the program.

 

We hit our FT's tonight. It kept us in the game.

 

I want to win, I could care less about the style. My favorite coach is Tom Izzo, his teams don't exactly run up and down the floor.

They don't exist. No one believes that. It's not that black and white as we're either in the Final Four or being where we are right now with Rice. There's a huuuge middleground between where UNLV is under Rice and going to the Final Four every season. This team has 5 losses in the T&M Center. That's tied for most ever in UNLV history.

Forget Theus, any respectable coach in the country would have UNLV significantly better-off than they are now.

Rice isn't going anywhere, we have to accept that but unfortunately that also means accepting loses like this.

 

I loved Altman, the guy is brilliant although I think Oregon would have come calling anyway and we wouldn't have had a shot to keep him. I'm of the school of thought that Reggie Theus is not the savior that some think he is. I see him as a snake oil salesman who is only out for Reggie. He can say all the right things and charm the pants off the ladies but I see him as being on the first plane out of Vegas if a bigger and better offer comes his way.

Rice couldn't make the Final Four of the CIT or CBI.

UNLV needs to make an immediate change to stop the bleeding.

Rice should be directed to resign before he does any further embarrassment to the university and basketball program.

The President and AD that hired Rice are gone! Time to fix past mistakes. Make things right.

Smatresk and his wife jovially invited me when they said they already booked their flight to the Final Four when I was sitting in the president's box when Minnesota was playing us at Sam Boyd stadium.  University presidents always make wacky, boisterous claims like that when they want people to open their wallets and make a donation.

 

That's why he was such a bad fundraiser.  Bad salesman, who doesn't know how to ask people for money. Not like it matters, UNLV will continue to not get a dime from me or anyone in my family as long as Rice is the HC.

 

As far as actual fans go. Sweet-16 was the benchmark. Not Final Four.

Who are some replacement names that UNLV fans would like hired?

 

Here is the criteria:

 

(1) you can offer the UNLV usual of $500k per year (also assuming that assistant salaries budget won't be huge)

 

(2) the coach needs to have a high scoring offensive philosophy (the Casinos have given UNLV fans ADD, and they want scoring and excitement....not grind it out).

 

Any names that you can hire under that criteria?
