Would you rather...

Recommended Posts

This is a question that I've asked almost every sports fan I know: Would you rather have your favorite school A. be guaranteed to win a National Championship in a sport of your choice this next year, but for the next 5 years they would not win a game; or B. would you rather have your team contend and be in the top 15 for the next 5 years but have no chance whatsoever for a title in the next 20?

When you accomplish something outside of finishing a book, let me know. When's the last time you saw a 2 year old fly first class in their own seat? Don't tell me about elite.

The question is too weird, define "no chance whatsoever" for 20 years?

I have a good one...what % of your lifetime wealth/income would you pay to see your favorite team win a NC during your lifetime? (for some UNLV fans, another one...it has been a while, and UNLV fell off the map for quite a while after the Tark stuff went down)

I'd take B, competing for top 15 for 5 year straight, followed by no chance to be in the top 15 for the next 20 years.  HeII, a lot of schools have no real chance to make the top 15 without having a great 5 year run.

Plan A would be too harsh.  A Nat'l championship doesn't seem worth going winless in that sport for the next 5 years.  I guess by the end of that 5th year, you'd know who your real fans are.

Plan A. I'd take 5 years of sucking over 20 years of mediocrity. And you'll always have a national championship banner.

The football or basketball gods would not let your team win a title for the next 20 years.

somehow it's fitting that this question was posed by a UNLV fan.

Check the avi.

Speaking of which, it looks like UNM took option C- no titles OR sustained relevance.

Guest #1Stunner

As a fan of a school that has won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, I feel most qualified to answer this question.

Win the National Championship.....

Once you win one of those, you can play that card for years.  It has served us well.

National Championships have no expiration date. Unless you're Wyoming basketball.

I'd pick A.

It's almost as if I already did back in 1990 :o

But then they went 60-3 in the next 2 seasons combined. (Tarks last 2 seasons) With a Final Four run and no post season because of NCAA harassment.

All is well, For Rice is gone.

1 glorious night has helped me get through the following three years of mediocrity.

One year of great, greatness would keep me satisfied for a long time.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.
