Warbow
http://www.goducks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=500&ATCLID=205705405 Texas gets almost as much from the LHN than Oregon got form the PAC 12 in fiscal year 2013.......and the Big 12 pays more than the PAC 12 does as well by about 2 million per year the Big 12 and the SEC will split 80 million per year (4 million per team in the Big 12) starting in 2015 for the Sugar Bowl while the PAC 12 numbers already include their similar Rose Bowl payments and starting next year when the playoffs pay 50 million per major conference that is 5 million per Big 12 team and only 4.16 million per PAC 12 team so lets do the numbers Oregon got 18.63 million from the PAC 12 while Texas got 15 million for the LHN alone, Texas got 20.8 from the Big 12 for a total of 35.8 million and Texas will get 5 million starting next year while Oregon will get 4.16 and Texas will get 4 million in 2015 while Oregon will get no additional money so starting next year Texas will be at 40.8 million while Oregon will be at 22.79 and by 2015 Texas will be at 39.8 million while Oregon will still be at 22.79 the PAC 12 network loses money currently and they struggle for carriage deals while Texas gets paid for the LHN no matter what the Big 12 gets more basketball teams into the NCAAs consistently and those teams go much deeper for more credits both mens and womens there is no denying the starting times of games for the west coast so again Texas has a huge advantage financially in the Big 12 and the PAC would actually have to find a way for the PAC 12 network to gain carriage and make a profit to even come close and even then the PAC 12 would need to have higher payouts from cable companies than the Big 10 by a significant margin for the PAC 12 network to pay close to what Texas makes in the Big 12 and the PAC 12 network is not going to outsell the Big 19 network period And they still can't afford a decent coach. Please do your research. The Rose and Sugar contracts which are identical have not started for anyone yet. No one. The Pac12 Net turned a profit in its first year. In total the TV deals for both conferences will net each school the same amount, when all is said and done. Texas does make more money than any other school but that is in spite of the B12 not because of it. The only benefit Texas has in the B12 is the ability to carry TLHN. That's it. Without UT, the PAC would be just fine. With out UT, the B12 would be the ACC 2.0 (with lower end schools). Again, UT makes money because it is UT, not because of the B12. If UT were to join the PAC, the TV deal would be restructured, that's how it was negotiated. Texas playing in LA, SF, Seattle etc is worth much, much more than whatever towns it road trips to in conference. In other words, the TV deal would be worth even more. Nevada Convert
If Warbow and friends want to go delusional, might as well go big and say that the NFL wants an expansion team in Hawaii. And then that creates a bidding war between the NFL and the PAC. The PAC offers them special terms better than any other PAC school. And that allows them to build a stadium better than Jerry's World and results in the best attendance of any school in cfb.
