Warbow
Another story... http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/ncaa/resources/latest+news/2012/october/boise+state+university+scholarship+reduction+unchanged In its analysis of the Boise State case, the committee noted the university’s failure to monitor the activities of football prospects before enrollment; the serious nature of the violations; the competitive advantage that resulted from the violations; and the failure of the athletics department to listen to warnings and provide the appropriate response when alerted to potential violations by the NCAA. These factors contributed to the committee’s ruling that Boise State lacked institutional control, a finding which was not appealed. The Boise State infractions case involved a series of major violations with more than 75 prospects and student-athletes in five sports over the course of five years. Multiple recruiting violations were found, including impermissible lodging and transportation. Other violations involved impermissible practice sessions Quote Disclaimer: Any views or opinions presented by this poster (Warbow) are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of the Univesity of Hawaii or it's loyal fans. Some of those girls are hot and a little eye candy for the boys is exactly why the Broncos dominated the WAC. Quote "Perhaps you think the Creator sent you here to dispose of us as you see fit. ashnel
BSU deserves these sanctions. Their lack of insitiutional control caused this to happen and BSU did gain a competitive advantage as the result of their actions. I'm sure they will be watched closely in the future. mysfit
The issues in football were resolved UNTIL the issues in the other sports came to light. ONLY then did the NCAA take the previously worked deal off the table and throw the book. BSU deserved penalties but they are excessive: The Infractions Appeals Committee in June called the penalty “excessive” and an “abuse of discretion.” It sent the case back to the COI for reconsideration. Most people agree. Only a handful think they are reasonable given the violations. That said BSU isn't appealing and we have just one more year of reduced scholies. For those dancing in glee over this, someday you may be on the receiving end of the arbitrary and uneven enforcement the NCAA doles out. Quote One of the Final Five.......... VandalPride97
I'm still shocked at the lack of coaching accountability. I mean, CP had to know what was going on, yet not one Bronco has attributed any blame to him whatsoever. Not one.
