Coastie

Sad news. This is coastie's son posting.

Recommended Posts

Mike/afacademydad, thank you so much. I'm having issues with posting on scout.com, it just says "NT" when I try to post there and don't know why.

I gotta say, all the love and support coming from you guys mean so much. My mom bookmarked this thread so she can come and see how you guys felt about my dad so please keep it coming. I'm trying to hang in there for the sake of my mom and sister and I'm not always successful right now but being called lil coastie got a good laugh out of me so thank you smarog69.

I put a post on the Scout.com air force forum. I linked back to this thread. Your father was part of "The Family" (Military) on the air force forum. He will truly be missed. Mike....

I never met your dad, but I sure appreciated him. A classy guy that rose above the garbage the internet sometimes offers. He's been on this board for a long time, and we are all diminished by his passing. My sincerest condolences.

Wow, my condolences...he brought knowledge and passion to the board, for sure, one that will be missed! RIP Coastie!

God this is so amazing. Thank you. All of you. I actually just found his aircrew wings from his coast guard days and gave them to my mom since he always said she was the reason he was able to get them since she helped him study for the tests. lol. He worked for the state of Oregon in the Department of Corrections as a sergeant and I gave his 140th anniversary of DOC badge to my sister Beth and I got his regular uniform badge. I've been holding onto it all day which helped when we made the arrangements and had the viewing. My mom had her sister Bonnie who's been a huge help here and my sister had her fiancee Dustin (he was in the marines) there for her but I just had the badge which is exactly what I needed when I had my alone time to say goodbye to him.

Again, thanks to all of you.

Guest #1Stunner

We could all follow Coastie's example of being a little bit nicer and respectful to each other. He always respected the other schools and fanbases. RIP.

We've had many posters pass through this board over the years but few have made the impression that Coastie has.

He always conducted himself with class and his contributions to this forum will be greatly missed.

He was one of the few posters that I can honestly say will be missed immensely by all of us who post here.

It's with much sorrow that I bid you a goodbye on your journey "to infinity and beyond."

Semper Paratus Coastie!

Stay strong for you family....especially your Mom. She's going to need you and your sister now more than she ever has. I've been there and I promise eventually the pain you feel now will subside.

Damn! Two of the finest human beings lost on the same day, Coastie and Ray Bradbury. Will dearly miss Coastie, the rare voice of reason with the perfect measure of humor and élan on this board. All the best to you and your family.

Wake of the flood, laughing water, forty-nine,

Get out the pans, dont just stand there dreamin

Get out of the way, get out of the way,

Here comes sunshine, here comes sunshine.

Line up a long shot maybe try it two times, maybe more,

Good to know you got shoes to wear when you find the floor,

Why hold out for more?

Here comes sunshine, here comes sunshine.

Askin you nice, now, keep the mother rollin

One more time, been down before,

You just dont have to go no more, no more.

Here comes sunshine, here comes sunshine.

Edited to add: Fu*^&%(g-A Ditty Bag!

RIP Coastie, you will be missed. Troy no words of mine could ease the suffering of you and your family. The impact your father had on the people on an anonymous message board must pale in comparison to the impact he had on the people who knew him in life. I am honored to have known him, I wish it could have been outside of this forum. I wish you and your family nothing but the best.

I turned 35 Saturday and I am fortunate to still have both of my parent still alive and healthy. I just broke my heart to know how hard it had to be for Troy to post that his Father died. Like they say tomorrow is not a given and we need to tell all our loved ones that we love them more often. So I'll call my parents tomorrow just to tell them how much I truly love them. It looks like Coastie raised a damn good man in Troy. All of us on the MWC board will have your family in our prayers tonight.. R.I.P Coastie!
