Las Vegas Bowl needs to move its date

Recommended Posts

If the PAC 10 were to ever get out the Big 12, Big 10 and probly any SEC school would love to take that slot.  Just think of a Big 12 4 or 5 or  a Big 10 4 or 5.  As for the attendance problems, those can hardly be blamed on MWC fans.  The Pac10 has not exactly pulled their weight in bringing fans.  Wyoming, BYU, Utah, UNLV, and AFA have all traveled very well their.

It very obvious the MWC is pimping the VB more than the P10...

The whole idea of a bowl city is to generate interest with the locals.

It's pretty sad, we can't find 40K fans to fill this thing. Bad date or not..

8-12K per traveling team is a good amount, and we've been doing that, not sure on exact P10 numbers, but it's clear who is lacking here...

It's not Vegas that I hate. Vegas is a blast.

It's the people in charge of the Vegas bowl and UNLV. They're just like RebelRobert. They aren't concerned at all about the health of our conference, just the amount of money they can put in their own pockets.

The Vegas bowl could be a great bowl game. Instead, the Vegas Bowl committee insist on giving it a date of December 21st. That's fine. We tried to work with the Vegas bowl and this is the solution they approved: December 21st, and allowing our own fans to pay for the increased pay-out of the Vegas bowl.

We need to give up on the Vegas bowl. They want to be third rate. Let them be third rate. They can have the MWC #3.

Now it's time to do something for the good of the conference. We either need to grow one of our one bowls or find another one.

We need post-christmas bowls. We need higher paying bowls. We need a bowl at the end of December, not the 21st. We need a bowl that doesn't struggle to get re-certified. Is a consistent sell-out to much to expect from our champions bowl game?

It's time for us to give up on the Vegas bowl and focus our attention elsewhere. The Vegas bowl is quite content being a second rate bowl on December the 21st. It's time to move on.

You can't walk down the strip without being handed an entire set of Topps two-for-one Asian hooker playing cards. I don't even want to take the damn things and next thing I know they're in my hand. The illegal aliens handing them out know some kind of Jedi mind-trick. You hear the pat-pat-pat of shuffling cards, you say no thanks, and next thing you know Obi-Juan-Canobez says, "Theez are the ho's yur lookin' for" and you've got a handfull of prostitutes.

How can you even argue that Vegas is not the place to spend a family holiday?

You're advertising slogan is, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." What were the other advertising slogan finalists:

"Do all the kinky, sick, twisted shi+ you can't do at home."

"Be a whore, a degenerate gambler, a murdering mob-boss, just bring money!"

"If you're lucky you might walk-up on a girl getting trained!"

Where else can you get laid with the opening line: "Hi, my name is Brian, I've got a hotel room a block away and eight inches?"

I love Vegas for three days during party holidays. Christmas is not a party holiday. The week leading up to Christmas is not a party holiday. They're family holidays.

LOL. Too funny. I swear we would do better finding illegals if we sent our patrols to the strip instead of the Mexican border. Just think we would be killing two birds with one stone, no more illegals and no more prostitute hand outs. LOL.

Don't lie Junky, you know you were grabbing every "talent" flyer you could find

Why would I pay for a girl in Vegas? It's like spring break all year down there. It really is a marvelous thing. All you have to be is somewhat attractive and mildly interesting and you're with a different girl every night.

You can't stop the prostitute hand-outs. It's magic. I saw an illegal alien get an 80 year-old couple to take one after four other illegals had recently failed. I don't know what kind of technology they use, but it's like they beem them up into your hand even if you say no. It's very strange.

ROFL. Too funny. Yes, i got back to the hotel room and it was very hard explaining to my family why I had a huge porn collection. LOL.

Casual sex is not my kind of thing. I don't want the reputation that comes with it.

I really think they are trained in the ways of the Jedi. I don't know if they make some magical, musical noise with them or if they cover them in the scent of a beautiful woman, or what. They do something though.

"These aren't the droids you're looking for."

"Move along please, these aren't the droids we're looking for."

or

"I don't want any of your damn hooker cards!"

"Deez gurls make you good feel all night vato." pat-pat-pat

"All right, I'll take one of the asian midget cards. I'll take the swedish twins rookie card. Give me two of the gold-toothed crack-whores just in case."

I can imagine. I'm sure your family was curious/upset where this " porn collection" was going to work.

I can see it now, three girls on the 3 for 1 special that Junky negotiated for MWC fans with proper ID following surealexander to his room in after the 2005 Bowl..

Oh wait, are you just talking about the flyers????

;)

Flyers. LOL. My friend lost his temper with one of the guys handing those out. It was sooo funny. Understand my friend looks like an ex WWE wrestler. We weren't bothered for about 10 seconds which is probly a record.

You know what really get's my goat. It's not even the same girl on the card that shows up to your room later.

I thought they said it was the oldest profession on earth, not she's the oldest professional on earth. I want a receipt next time. The goods were damaged!!

The Poinsettia will always be a week before the Holiday. They are a pre-christmas non-event. The Fort Worth bowl is to far away from our footprint.

The Albuqurque bowl is in New Mexico, but it is a pre-christmas bowl game owned by ESPN. They aren't going to let that bowl game change dates.

The only bowls that have a post christmas date are bowl games we currently don't have. The best chance of us getting a post-christmas bowl is to make the BCS, or steal a bowl game from another conference. The Sun Bowl is a long shot that would require a lot of different circumstances to get. The Insight Bowl just told us no. The MPC bowl is available as soon as we want it.

Let's look at this for a second. Saying the Ft. Worth is out of our footprint is also saying TCU is out of our footprint. The goal of adding TCU was to increase shoe size and wear Nikes rather than Converse.

IMO, the Ft. Worth could be a bigger player down the road with MWC ties rather than CUSA.. This could attract many conferences with it's location.

And all Bowls owned by ESPN now could be for sale to say CSTV/CBS down the road for the right price. Everything is always for sale.

CSTV/CBS's goal is to compete with ABC/ESPN, when I say add value, this could also mean better dates for our current line-up. The Liberty is post Christmas, but during a weekday when many folks are still working.. Somewhat of an illusion on "better" date, IMO.

Now, I'm reaching with some of this, but I think we agree CSTV's(with CBS backing) goal is to become a REAL player in college sports, right? A lot of this is based on huge success for CSTV..

OK einstein, maybe I am missing something. Wyomingites would spend their hard earned dollar to come to Vegas however I do not see anyone from from Vegas wanting to go or relocate to Wyoming ... could you explain that to me??? Thats right. Wyoming is so appealling that people are moving there in leaps and bounds. Now where are you on the list on the fastest growing cities in America???

Agreed, I just think Fort Worth is going to be an awful long trip for CSU, SDSU, and UNLV. There are a lot of regional opponents in Texas, but the Fort Worth is property of ESPN.

The best idea is to get these bowls on CBS/CSTV so they can put them on whatever dates they want. That is going to require the growth of CSTV. The Eastern Sports Power Network will do everything in their power to warehouse our bowl games too. If that means putting them on before christmas, in the least favorable time slot, that's what they're going to do.

Well, one difference now vs. going to say Memphis, is MWC fans will aready be conditioned to go to Fort Worth considering they are a MWC city and they go every other year.

I'd rather go to DFW than Memphis around Christmas or after...

I think all our fans would travel fairly well to Dallas.. I'm sure you can get better deals with most major airlines with Dallas being such a huge hub...

It would be great if the MWC could land the Cotton...

None of the options are great. We kind of built our bowl arrangement in reverse. We have all the regional bowls that will thrive as lower tiered bowls. I just don't think any of them, even with major work, can become a bowl worthy of the MWC champion.

It's going to be embarrassing when the MWC is done playing all their bowl games on December 24th.

Whatever we decide to do, we better get on it. Nothing screams busch league louder than 4 pre-christmas bowls.

I like how we shopped our champion to the best bowl available this year. That arrangement works. I just hope that the Vegas bowl committee doesn't think they get first pick with a December the 21st date and a 1.2 million dollar pay-out.

If we can continue to shop our champion to bigger bowls, I think our bowl arrangement is great for now.

If you put a silk hat on a pig it's still a pig, and the Vegas bowl has just as curly of a tail as the New Mexico, Poinsettia, and Fort Worth.

You can't land a bigger bowl with the MWC number 5. You can with the MWC champion.
