Warbow
Can I get the low down on this former coach of yours. Looks like Thom Kaumeyer is going to be our new Defensive coordinator. How's his recruiting abilty? Aztectone
He's a bad a+s, every LB we have in the league right now is because of him. Morrison, Keiahu, McCoy, Farwell. Quote Change is inevitable only growth is optional.
GoldenEagleAztec
Since news broke that he's headed to the island, he's received nothing but well wishes and praises from posters on aztecmesa.
LJ_Aztec
Outstanding get for you guys. Very solid defenses on the horizon for the 'Bows. I remember one season with TK, we allowed something like 5 TD passes all season going into game#13 against Colt Brennan ironically...needless to say that went up, we never seem to be able to play defense at your crib. Nothing but good memories though of Kaumeyer's system overall.
Monty
He's a bad a+s, every LB we have in the league right now is because of him. Morrison, Keiahu, McCoy, Farwell. Equals props go to Andy Buh who was the LB coach and is now at UNR. Thom is a damn fine coach. We had a good defense when he was at SDSU and the team progessed each year with him at the helm (Too bad Tbone Craft was the Head Coach). Balacned with his playcalling

SleepingGiantFan
He's a bad a+s, every LB we have in the league right now is because of him. Morrison, Keiahu, McCoy, Farwell. Let's be clear. The OP asked about recruiting and although Kaumeyer developed those guys, he didn't recruit Morrison and McCoy. Here's my opinion. Kaumeyer did a very good job at SDSU with a couple glaring exceptions. One, he couldn't defend AFA's option for crap whereas his predecessors did and have done pretty well with it. And two, Kaumeyer was absolutely out-coached by BYU's OC during one of Gary Crowton's down years. The Dark Side D was known for blitzing on almost every down and BYU took advantage of that via screens and several well-timed QB draws to score the most points in that game that they put up all year. I thought Kaumeyer would make adjustments at halftime but he never did and our LBs overpursued themselves out of plays all night long. Quote Boom goes the dynamite. NotalentU
Can I get the low down on this former coach of yours. Looks like Thom Kaumeyer is going to be our new Defensive coordinator. How's his recruiting abilty? Three words: Dark Side Defense. Under Kaumeyer, SDSU had the #7 defense in the country. Unfortunately, we had Tom Craft as the head coach and offensive coordinator, which completely wiped out any positives the defense achieved. To this day, Kaumeyer's squads are revered among the Aztec faithful. As one UCLA assistant once said to me when they were preparing to play the Aztecs: "He's never met a blitz he didn't like." Excellent hire. If Norm Chow can somehow muster his magic on the offensive side of the ball, Hawaii will be REALLY good in short order. bigd
Wow, Hawaii appears to be building a great program on the islands. I hope this all comes together. The MWC needs good football schools.

aztech
Can I get the low down on this former coach of yours. Looks like Thom Kaumeyer is going to be our new Defensive coordinator. How's his recruiting abilty? He should fit right in with the Islanders. He's half hapa (I believe his mother is Japanese). His best strength is coaching the DBs.
