utenation
Deltatap, Italics, the jimmer guy, Chad, masterfrog I don't think Master is a troll at all.. He is just blunt with the MWC most times.. He does add material and I like his posts for what they are.. He is a Everything is bigger and better in Texas kinda guy.. That's all. Coastie
Before I put my heart and soul in this and get fouled up on a time wasting technicality, I need some answers. I'd like to know the "official" difference between a troll and a WAC-off. I know you can be a troll without being a WAC-off, but can you be a WAC-off without also being a troll?? Also, will we have different categories because of their style, or do we just use their style in our written arguments to advance them going for the MWC Idol? For instance, there is the basic "Irritation" style of only responding with Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!, and then there's the "Avoidance" style of talking how you're taking the football world by storm, but then never being able to show a win, the "No Shame" category of coming back after the Notre Dame game, and finally there's the "Threadjack to Demand an Apology" category (aka Natty Stalkers). We have a tremendous opportunity to honor several individuals here instead of just one.
nocoolnamejim
Since it is the offseason, let's start a troll bracket and vote on who is the worst troll. We'll pick the 16 worst and hold rounds of voting. We'll leave this thread up for a couple of days and pick the 16 worst. I'll start with an easy one nevadaconvert. Nominees? Isn't starting a thread specifically to call others trolls itself a form of trolling? I mean, isn't it basically just starting a thread for the express purpose of picking a fight? 1

nocoolnamejim
Really?? Meh. Sorry. Been reading the board for a few months now ever since folks suggested I take the time to get a feel for the community before posting. Came to the conclusion that there are some very intelligent posters here with some good thoughts, but also a whole lot of crap flinging to sort through. I realize that my previous post was a "well no duh Sherlock" sort of comment. 1

There is no difference between a wac-off and a troll but there is is difference between a WAC fan and a WAC-off. The good BSU crew like Fiend, BSUT25, BSUbroncofan, Sparky, Rogue, NVgiant are good WAC fans.. But most of the rest are just plain ole Wac-offs.. Since this is a best of the worst... We only have so many choices here, plenty to chose from though. Also, will we have different categories because of their style, or do we just use their style in our written arguments to advance them going for the MWC Idol? I realize that my previous post was a "well no duh Sherlock" sort of comment. No worries....just take it for what it is. This could be one of the more humorous threads this entire summer. This "venting" is from YEARS of defensive BS brought on by a select (growing)few, which unfortunately paints entire fanbases in a poor light. Most "crap" being flung starts relativelly good natured, but for those whose bridges have long been burned, there is no hope but to shed them in the light they deserve. utenation
Isn't starting a thread specifically to call others trolls itself a form of trolling? I mean, isn't it basically just starting a thread for the express purpose of picking a fight? Look at it this way. No matter what is said, what respect is given, what considerations are given, it will not change the style and approach of the trolls in question.. You can ignore them, fight them, try to be nice to them, be mean to them and it doesn't matter one bit. Might as well have some fun while these idiots continue to try to ruin this board... They're not going to leave or shape up anyways.
SparkysDad
I don't think it's fair to lump Italics in with those other two. After all, Italics once said something rational. BTW, I'd forgotten all about Warblow. Damn, one lousy football season and he's gone forever. (Oops, I forgot. With Jones gone, they're all lousy from here on out.) Warblow could save you guys a lot of time and effort on this thread and pick the winners right now with..... THE RANKULATOR!
utenation
THE RANKULATOR! He would post that stupid thing here right after the BCS standings each week... Warbow.. LOL at that guy.. The best was his spew while Hawaii was having their run... It all came back around by the end of the season..

They're not going to leave or shape up anyways. I suppose that's one way of looking at things. On the other hand, another way could be that it's essentially setting up a circular loop/self-fulfilling prophecy sort of situation where from an outsider's perspective, the board looks pretty hostile to us "Wac-offs" and therefore you only get the most annoying bunch sticking around whereas the majority of what would otherwise be pretty good contributors get intimidated and stay away. Which means that all you get are the really annoying ones. Which reinforces your view of the fanbase in general. Which causes you to be more hostile towards them. etc. But anyway, I'm new and just started posting again after following the posting for a while. Not wanting to dive right into an argument on board dynamics and politics. I'll go find a nice, safe topic to post in...like conference expansion. :D

Anyone with half a brain knows how to function on an OOC board as an OOC guest.. It's not rocket science. There are plenty of OOC fans here that do very well here while maintaining their school and conference pride. You probably don't have enough experience on this matter to be judging. The folks in question have been at it for years with zero change...
slcute
The final will come down to Ian and Bluerules. Some of the other are annoying but at least try and be objective (albeit while wearing their teams glasses), however these two are just here to be annoying pricks. I've been watching since about August of last year, but I agree that's a relatively short amount of time relatively speaking. I'm comfortable letting the subject drop and trying to acclimate. No matter what is said, what respect is given, what considerations are given, it will not change the style and approach of of the trolls in question.. No Cool Name Jim, I agree here with Natty in the case of the actual trolls where there is an overwhelming consensus. I could be totally wrong, but my impression is that this board is somewhat forgiving in that just about all of us have said something really stupid at one time or another, or may have taken offense at another poster, or really blew a statistic search and were flat out wrong. And if it's not something you keep up, then you're not really defined by an isolated incident. In other words, I don't think the bad reputations around here are thrown around with no thought, but are actually something earned over time. In other words, if only a couple posters think you're a troll, and you're not, then you'll probably be defended by everyone else. If everyone thinks you're a troll, then it's a damn good clue.
