Winning percentage of all bowl opponents by conference

Recommended Posts

With our 4-0 start, I was curious to see how our bowl opponents stacked up as far as regular season wins and losses with other conferences. I find it interesting that the conference playing the teams with the highest winning percentage has the best bowl record to date and the conference playing the teams with the lowest winning percentage hasn't won a bowl game in a long long time. Obviously all bowl opponents come from a variety of conferences, but the Mountain West is the only conference to have all of its bowl opponents with 8 regular season wins or more coming into the bowls.

*ALL RECORDS ARE PRIOR TO BOWL GAMES

1. Mountain West (47-15) .758

2. SEC (91-32) .740

3. PAC-10 (62-23) .729

4. Sun Belt (18-7) .720

5. Big Ten (60-25) .706

6. ACC (59-25) .702

7. WAC (32-16) .667

8. Big XII (65-33) .663

9. Big East (48-25) .658

9. Conference USA (48-25) .658

11. MAC (35-25) .583

To be fair, this should be weighted by the opponent strength. Beating WAC #2/3 and C-USA #2/3 and PAC-10 #5/6 is what it is.

Going 4-0 in this fashion means our teams were under-seeded. The league's better than it gets credit for - but we're not playing AQ #1s here.

It's a shame, because TCU earned a name matchup and got Boise - then again, we need to stay humble and be careful about that - the Broncos still gots ta get beat...and Boise is a legit top 10 team - very good - in spite of their WAC affiliation.

But if TCU does win, the 4-0 that goes 5-0 sounds stronger, and makes their case for "we shouda been..." that much stronger. So maybe that's the best way to look at 4-0 - ammo for TCu, who still has to come through or it means less than it did.

The MWC is clearly the best Football conference and that is undisputable. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know a damn thing about College Football. SEC? PAC-10? Big Ten? Get the F&ck out of here!

The MWC is the #1 Football Conference in the land, we should act like it. We are and were the 2009 and 2010 National Champions! PERIOD.

actually only one team is playing an AQ #1 and that team should have been TCU. It isn't like all the other BCs leagues are playing stellar teams in their bowl season. Heck looking at the numbers provided they are playing teams with worse records then the teams we have beaten.
