I’m confused about MWC one article said the MWC needs 8 FT members so Hawaii doesn’t count. That doesn’t seem right. Does the MWC need 1 or 2 more teams does anyone know. MWC needs 2. Hawaii going all-sports is the emergency/backup plan, but it seems they have a list of teams to go after first.

One other thing to note. Every conference has bottom feeders. Even "new" ones. OSU/WSU got a superior TV contract than the MWC this year, without a conference. Next time, with the top-drawing teams from the MWC, Memphis and Gonzaga (yes, they are coming), they will get substantially more. Two or three times more? Who knows. But how can Gloria say the MWC will INCREASE its rights fees when competitively it's half the conference it was, and without the Boise, Fresno, San Diego, Salt Lake City and Denver TV markets?

I don't know about increasing, but the MWC contract was 7 years ago, and is likely worth more due to inflation in today's (slightly better) market. So I would guess it's likely not decreasing too much.

Because she’s been in constant contact with tv executives. To claim the Denver market is pure bullshit, Air Force and Wyoming both hold as much value in Denver individually as csu, and together is more valuable. The smallest state school Wyoming, draws more eyeballs than sdsu.

Some of those 600,000 had to be from the Denver TV market you said CSU didn't dominate over UW and AFA. It's funny to me how the PAC schools will say this then turn around and say the poaching fee is unenforceable because the MWC wasn't materially harmed. Pretty sure that raised csu average.

That’s why these ratings are flawed. I actually think how attractive you are in getting Power Conference teams to play home games at your stadium is a big deal since doesn’t the home team get their media partner to show the games? If so, then power teams don’t want to play at Boise (blue field), Fresno, and likely Wazzu and Oregon State (I don’t know, maybe they do but they prob transitioning from a Power conference schedule to G5 and would take some years to schedule Power teams OOC). Isn’t a lot of the “value” getting big schools to play each other, thus boosting their metrics? Most attractive for Power OOC home games at MW schools would be #1 Hawaii, then UNLV. I can’t think of anyone else.

I think we probably have more fans there, even in down years, than anyone else except UNM. UNM fans love their hoops.

EvilPoke
The whole argument about tv viewership/potential is aggravating. People arbitrarily jump back and forth between viewership and actual viewers depending on how it suits them.

Other than San Diego, you have zero television markets--heck the Mountain West markets are better than the PAC's. Don't even try to claim the Denver market--between CU, Air Force and Wyoming, there's very little left that goes to CU.
