Wasn’t there some data floating around earlier this year that showed Fresno AD operating in the black and getting good value for the monies spent? Since you’re making the claim about them operating in the red, I will leave it to you to mine that info…who knows, I could be wrong, just like the stadium plan at SJSU.

Fresno State athletics had a budget deficit of $2.8 million in 2022-23, according to the most recent annual financial report submitted to the NCAA. Another seven-figures loss is expected in 2023-24 and university funding to the department, its largest source of revenue, is likely to be cut again this year.
They are and have been basically been stealing from the students for quite some time.  A lot of universities have student fees to help fund athletics, but Fresno seems to do it on a whole different level just to get to the deficit they're operating with now.

I appreciate that you added your source…doesn’t mean it’s correct. This is the first I have heard that the AD is operating in a deficit.

So you took into evidence the school rag which is clearly biased against athletics…solid source.

Here is something else to look at…

Any thoughts from the links that stand out to you? I’d be delighted to get your take…

SJSU is substantially more dependent on allocated revenues (such as student fees) than Fresno is. The percentages are 60.52% for SJSU vs. 42.96% for Fresno.

Your numbers are way off and the percentage of student fees going to the athletic department at Fresno State is 69.7% for the school year.  I'm sure there would be some legal reprecussion against its own members if the numbers in the Fresno article were not correct.

Given that both are considered journalistic, the repercussions are hurt pride. Do you think USA Today is mistaken?

You know what I think, I think your anus is chapped because SJSU sucks Bulldog balls and you’re looking for any bit of negative data you can hang on them as a bad add to the PAC2. If your school and fans had half as much passion about moving your school forward as you exert trying to trash FS, you might break $700K in ticket sales.

The only thing spartan about SJSU is the apathetic mental fatigue of a sorry AD.

That  USA was not about student fees at all. It was a ranking of athletic budgets and how much revenue along with alloted money there was verse what is spent, but those numbers in no way are even close to many other articles out there. To be truthful, it's hard to get straight up answers even when conducting very specific searches.  I actually called the Bursar's offices and was told to hold while they see if they can find that information only to have them hang up while supposedly puttting me on hold--seems awfully coincidental.   I'm thinking they don't like to give out that type information.

It sounds like you're just looking at a different number. Just because most of Fresno State's student fees go to their athletic department doesn't mean most of their athletic department's revenue comes from student fees.

Didn't say it did.  That was just a response to a response of an article I posted.  Fresno's fees are only are only $132 of which $92 go toward athletics.  I was talking about the supposed almost $3,000,000 deficit they were running according to the article.

Just so you know Fresno Athletics are in much worse finacial shape than SJSU's.  Our stadium is different that's for sure, and I'm not convinced that we made the right decision with the design, but the new facilities seem to be a hit with potential recruits.  I think the plan is to add future seats, but who really knows?  Don't forget people used to talk the same way about the Blue field up in Boise.  I will give you SDSU has more to offer to the new conference than any of the other schools in it including WSU and OSU.  Next one would probably be CSU in my opinion.  I see nothing Fresno really offers: Crumbling concrete stadium (look like a prison), low attendance (gang members barking and threating visitors in crowd), no television market, finacially strapped athletic department, academically inferior.

*Snap Dragon Stadium--was partially funded by philanthropic donations, but it's mostly funded by bonds which are supposed to be paid back via revenue generated by the facility including ticket revenue, naming rights and concessions--Judging from your attendance so far at your bright, shiny new stadium good luck with that last part.
**SJSU has a balanced budget, while the Jerseys worn by the Bulldogs are not the only thing playing in red at Fresno!

Fyi: San Diego State "rents" the football stadium to a professional soccer team. Income to cover expenses and the stadium construction is NOT an issue.
