If this clown Nevarez shows her face at any meeting that groups only us and four other conferences together she has to be tarred and feathered as she is SHOWN the unemployment line! DISGRACIAD!!! We are paying for this type of leadership? As long as it doesn’t replace our access to the CFP, I think it’s a great idea. I don't think the P4 could touch it if it's put together by the G5 conferences themselves. The issue would be with the P4 taking away the G5 playoff spot but that might be what finally leads to the top of the P4 finally separating and the creation of a 3rd D1 division. I don't think there would be a lot of cash to hoover up in regards to a P5 school in all honesty. Or probably even for a G5 school depending on how they organize it. Semis and Finals are in existing G5 Bowls. I am certain Snapdragon, the Arizona Bowl, Liberty Bowl and one of Orlando's Bowls would readily host the semis and Finals. IF any type of playoff like that would work, I think you would have to limit to 4 teams to start. 4 conference champs of the teams that weren't good enough to make the real playoffs and then semis at home of the higher ranked team. With as large as the P conferences are now. I have no interest in seeing our champ if not in the playoff, play against the #16 team in an 18 team conference. The bowls are going to be rearranged with the 12 team playoff and I suspect that G5 bowls that had a P5/4 tied to it are no longer going to exist. If the MW is looking to continue to have bowl games around the same time as the CFP first round games, a game between two conference champions has a lot of appeal. I think some other bowl games will be moved between New Years Day and the CFP game because the NFL playoffs don't start until Mid January. I agree that the referring to the Mountain West as G5 is not a favorable comparison because it most cases MW universities are top in one media market, albetit small-ish, while that isn't true for any American, MAC, CUSA or Sun Belt schools I can think of is UTEP and Memphis. Right now the other G5 schools are thrilled to play in a bowl game agaisnt a Mountain West team while that isn't usually the case for a mountain west team. If the other four conferences want to play bowl games against the MW and need to hold at least half of any proposed playoff at Mountain West stadiums there is a good reason for the MW to be there. Maybe the conversation went like this - Quote Nevarez: San Diego, Hawai'i and Las Vegas host bowl games. I'll agree to a game in Central or South Florida, no Jacksonviller or panhandle Sun Bowl, MAC, CUSA, American: Please can we have a Texas bowl? Nevarez: Rotate a championship game between the Sun Bowl,a Florida game, a San Diego game, a Hawai'i game and a Las Vegas game and we've got a deal. Other commissioners: Thank you Ms. Nevarez! She was given an impossible task for the most part because the Pac2 never considered merging with the MWC. Not once. And so she played hardball hoping she could keep the gang together. Not many are good negotiators when backed into a corner. As for UNLV, I'm confused too. They are clearly gaining momentum and for my money would have been in the first 4 added.
