According to the Mountain West pre-season poll

Recommended Posts

Boise State's conference schedule this season is pretty soft.  I say that because - again according to the pre-season poll - Boise State's MWC opponents this season are ranked as follows:

# 2 - U.N.L.V.

# 6 - Wyoming

# 7 - Utah State

# 8. - San Diego State

# 9. - Hawaii

# 10. - San Jose State

# 12 - Nevada

Interesting. Beavers have to play:

#1 Boise State

#2 UNLV

#4 Air Force

#5 Colorado State

#8 San Diego State

#10 San Jose State

#12 Nevada

That’s a tough draw for a team that lost almost all of its key starters. I wonder where Oregon State would rank if they and WSU were included in the poll. I want to say 4 or 5, but maybe I’m being too optimistic given what they lost. Air Force also lost a lot of production from last year I believe. Thats why I’m thinking in that range.

Yeah, but comparison Oregon State has a much tougher schedule against MWC teams.   But again this is just the rankings from the annual pre-season poll at the MWC media get-together.

The one I don't get is UNLV at # 2.  They lost their starting QB from last season to the transfer portal (U.S.C. if I recall correctly).   And the only QB's they brought in via the transfer portal came from schools that aren't exactly known as football powerhouses.  That being Holy Cross, Campbell and Southern University.

As to where Oregon State and Washington State would be ranked on this all I can use for that comparison would be the Massey Ratings which has Oregon State ranked # 37 when Boise State is ranked # 48.  Washington State is ranked # 66.
