Bronco7454
Boise State's 5th year Senior placekicker, Jonah Dalmas, needs only 18 made field goals this season to break the NCAA career record for most field goals made. Christopher Dunn of North Carolina set the current record of 97 career made field goals in 2022. Dalmas currently has a total of 80 made field goals in his NCAA career. In 2023 Dalmas made 24 field goals as a 4th year Senior In 2022 he made 23 field goals as a True Junior In 2021 he made 26 field goals as a true Sophomore In the shortened season of 2020 he made only 7 field goals as a true freshman Last season Dalmas had made only 6 field goals thru the first six games and he made his 18th field goal in the final regular season game against Air Force with just under 5 minutes remaining in the game. In other words he made 12 field goals in the final 6 regular season games in 2023 vs only 6 field goals in the first half of the regular season. In the 2023 MWC championship game vs. UNLV Dalmas made 3 field goals and he made another 3 field goals in the bowl game vs. UCLA. P.S. The current NCAA FCS record holder for made field goals college success did not translate to the NFL. Christopher Dunn was signed as a Free Agent (not drafted) by the Rams and after six weeks he was cut. He then played for what was then the XFL San Antonio Brahmas and after 8 weeks they cut him. Beaver-Poke
Career records have become even more meaningless because of the bonus year so many were given. They were already somewhat meaningless because many played before freshman eligibility, many only played 10 games in a season, and many played when bowl game stats did not count on NCAA/school records as they do now. It's not apples to apples. But he sounds like a good kicker, so congrats to him.

I don't disagree with your point (to a limited extent) but on the other hand there is the fact that the 2020 season was drastically reduced as far as games played. And that also affected everyone who went thru that as well.
