It is a bit ironic after years of Dems trying to balance the budget on the backs of the military the roles seem a bit reversed.  To cut spending DOD has to be part of it.  They are too big a part of the pie.  The question is where.

The continued economic and military rise of China and it's growing willingness/ability to use Russia as it's pawn, a la North Korea.  Yes, this is the perfect time to abandon NATO.

We’re not cutting the military budget. At least MAGA does see China as a major threat and have no desire to cut the budget due to that. At least I haven’t seen anything. Other than China, some of MAGA is full blown Isolationist.

Funny thing…a Chinese strike on US assets in South Korea, Japan, Guam and even Hawaii may not automatically trigger Article 5 of the NATO treaty.  The treaty states any attack in Europe or North America is considered an attack on all. Hawaii technically isn’t in North America.  Although I’m not sure China would risk that and wouldn’t strike Hawaii.
