Speaking of specific content, Panhandle SportsCenter must be significantly different than Orange County SportsCenter because a buddy of mine who lives outside of Panama City told me they hardly ever see news on UCF when I asked.

I can get all the specific Ute stuff on my local media. The point of a conference channel is to have them produce the content. Local stuff can be very biased.  Conference produced material has to stay somewhat objective. And it’s a new flavor on your programs. 
 

My favorite show the P12 network had was:The Drive.  A Hard Knocks style program that covered 2-3 teams all year A-Z including inside the locker room and coaching offices. Wins and losses. 
 

CFB is all about change these days.  I’m sure I’ll be fine with ESPN+ but it’s not the same thing.

It's not.  The individual schools produce most of the content.  The channels, whether linear or streaming, distribute.  Cheaper that way.  P12N might have been different because they were self-owned.  But they would have been the outlier.  And the P12N isnt known for its fiscal prudence.

Very little was school produced most of it was conference.  They also had shows each year breaking down every school’s recruiting classes. Bowl game matchups.

Whatever they have now is probably a bare bones operation to just produce raw coverage for CW. 
 

In 2023, they barely had studio shows for both basketball and football. They played that show over and over for two days just to fill tv slot holes. 
 

I don’t know what the numbers of the P2 look like but I don’t think the P12 network ( whatever is left) is the money pit it used to be. 

Gotta be $2 million a year to still run it minimum.   A new director just hired.

I think the bigger question is, how much would it cost CW to produce, edit and broadcast their own games? I'm guessing the sale's pitch of the P2 was, pay us more money and we have this part covered..

The contract, when it comes out will probably reflect these details.

Nothing, because CW doesnt do that.  CW has the same deal with the ACC (Raycom is producing).  Even LIV Golf is producing their CW broadcasts.  WWE is handling production when the CW takes over NXT broadcasts in the fall.

My point was strictly from a cost standpoint.  With that said, sounds like a good match for the P2. 
 

Back to my original point. I don’t think this arrangement is going to break the bank for the P2.

If the Pac2/MW put up decent numbers I expect the CW will be a partner in the next media deal if the Pac2/MW merge. The CW not having the history and infrastructure could actually be an advantage as the network gets into what is clearly a new era in CFB.

CBB had something like that this past season on XII Now, it was good stuff.  Maybe they’ll do football this year.

Or it could be a little leverage to get CBS/Fox to pony up a few more beans.

The CW's deal with the ACC is worth $3 million a year and that includes basketball.

 With the growth of the BIG and XII there’s a chance Fox passes on the MW next round. Guessing the MW/Pac2 end up with CBS/CW as media partners.

I wonder if Fox still wants more continued late night western slots? Like you said, they have the Western B10 schools and the B12 has the 4 corners and BYU. Is that enough?

I'm sure the MWC will start with Fox/CBS and go from there. Just a guess.

Yup and given that George Kliavcough's idea of streaming the majority of games went over like a turd in a spacesuit, broadcasting games available to the entire country is a plus for the twins.

That would be a good move. Obviously it isn't a traditional sports network, but it's available to just about everyone.

If we’re lucky the few additions won’t be enough and Fox stays in the fold. We’re cheap and provide decedent bb value for the price I guess.
