A guy I work with is the poster child for what you just described. A few years ago when all the racial tension was at a high level under Trump, this guy was like a few clowns here screaming up and down about the BLM movement. He decided that he was going to get his Utah concealed weapons permit. Got trained up and made the day of a local gun shop. Loaded up on weapons and ammo. I actually went with him this day to get out of the office. I said why? “Protection” he answered. I said from who? He went racist on the answer. I said do you really expect that 50 crips from LA are going to travel to Utah, break into your gated community of an affluent neighborhood and set your small mansion and car on fire? He said you never know. This guy never owned any guns before but he’s ready to protect the city from threats. Lmao. Utah is a gun show’s wet dream. Gang banging and gun violence is a urination wet dream.

They may not be able to fire him because of tenure, but trey can blacklist him, and basically send him to go work in the basement.

I'm pretty sure I have mentioned this before, but I took a class from him years back now. I think 2013, but not quite sure. I took one special topics class on campaigns and elections in the first summer session and had the credits needed for recertification, but took a second session class (Constitutional Law) just to add towards a pay scale move. Anyway, it was a co-taught class. Yenor did the first week. Another prof did week 2. Week 3 was a research/write week w/no class. Other prof did week 4 and Yenor finished the final week. He was a weird dude even back then. Wore too tight golf slacks and weird polyester shirts over his dad bod. He kind of bullied this one male student when he returned after missing class the day before. Sometimes he'd get too close wandering around during his lecture time. I didn't know who he was, but he already had a rep and I heard students avoided him. My youngest finished her undergrad at BSU and did the same a few years later when his notoriety had grown further (but, before he really made the news). However, I thought he was a solid instructor. Good lecturer and Socratic discussion facilitator. He assigned one short book by some law prof who argued for the Court to return to its pre-Progressive shift in the 1930s. The author had one argument strand against child labor laws proposing parent agency (right to decide their child's labor) was superior to formal law. I argued back against that point of view in one part of a paper/book review. Got a fair grade. One thing I recall Yenor stressing was the concept of judicial activism and how he thought it oft misconstrued in public discourse. Judicial activism then most commonly was a complaint by conservatives when rulings didn't go their way and feeling judges were "making law" in certain cases. Judges making rulings based on personal viewpoints and ignoring precedent. Today in 2024, the complaints have seemingly flipped to liberals. He thought activism by the Court occurs whenever it acts to negate legislation, executive rules, and actions of both. So in that view, when the Court rules in favor of laws which expanded government (liberal ideology) that's not activism. It's activism when it rules against legislation regardless of the ideological tilt of the laws. Interesting conceptual debate. I wonder if Jackrabbit or anyone else here who decries all those liberal professors will read this? I'm all for ideological diversity at universities especially in the social sciences. Unfortunately, Yenor has engaged in activities and viewpoints that render him unsuited to teaching at a public university. You can be a Marxist or anarchist or libertarian or whatever, but if your views are discriminatory towards certain groups of people that's a red line. Motown Monty
n kind of raises some questions (1) how many women work only because it is essential to have a 2 income household right now vis-a-vis chasing after a fulfilling career? (2) how many men or women would prefer to be a "stay at home" person, and the freedom (or work) it gives? I know a ton of people that don't give a shit about work and all they talk about is "retire early". But the bills have to be paid this football player I guess gets to chase his ideal because he is very rich in the top 1% of Americans, If he was poor, his wife would have to work probably. yes there are some jobs that are prestigious and fulfilling, but most people are working for the weekend and their job is just a paycheck
