Bought by the same people who claimed to have boycotted Nike for sponsoring Kaepernick and the NFL for kneeling during the anthem lol. Suckers.

Kaepernick was a contracted employee, if I was an NFL owner I would’ve shitcanned his ass immediately. There’s a right way and a wrong way to go about preaching your message.

I guess it's more the reminiscing people do and dwelling on the past, depressed in their current state instead of looking to improving their lives and their future. That's what I'm against. Even this thread refers to individuals talking about how things were better in the 60s.

From the man behind the COVID lockdowns to the people pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America, they all have a glaring thing in common. They are Catholic. This is an important reminder that being Catholic alone doesn't cut it.

As members of the Church founded by Jesus Christ

Congress just passed a bill where stating something as basic as the biblical teaching of who killed Jesus could land you in jail.

She [his wife] is the person that knows me best at my core, and it is through our marriage that, Lord willing, we will both attain salvation.

As men, we set the tone of the culture, and when that is absent, disorder, dysfunction, and chaos set in. This absence of men in the home is what plays a large role in the violence we see all around the nation. Other countries do not have nearly the same absentee father rates as we find here in the U.S.

I agree with the final two sentences above. However, who is the Catholic that is allegedly "pushing dangerous gender ideologies"? Jesus "founded" the Catholic Church? Uh, no. And is he saying that but for marrying his wife, they couldn't "attain salvation"? Finally, "men set the tone of culture"? According to his Wiki page, Butker attended a K-12 Presbyterian school and I'm pretty sure that on Sundays he religiously attended Catholic mass (bad pun intended). I attended mainly only public schools and three years at a Protestant HS was enough to start convincing me of how brainwashed that school tried to make its students. So although I think Butker is way off base on the majority of what he says, the blame for that probably lies elsewhere.

Toni Fauci is evil the guy who took away everyone's freedom.  He's not a practicing Catholic, but still sort of claims it.  I'm unclear on who the gender bender Catholic leaders are, but since it was in the plural -- some group of pointy-heads.

Yes, the ancient and sacred tradition is Jesus is who we call the founder of the (Roman) Catholic Church as well as Orthodox and Eastern Rite Churches.  You'll find it in Wikipedia (with which you are familiar) so it has to be true.

You missed the part where he screws up a current bill and more importantly his errant take on the Jews killing Jesus.

No, he's referring to sacramental marriage as the vocation by which they will live their lives in service to God leading to salvation.

It's a man's world, man.  Arguable, but patriarchy still runs deep in the culture.

Claiming that Jesus founded the Catholic Church is absurd since there is no evidence that term was even used until at least a century after Jesus's death.

While raised a Protestant, I was taught that all or nearly all the great things Jesus espoused were his divinely-inspired original thoughts. So maybe that's what Butker meant in that graduation speech of his. However, even that is highly dubious because so much of what Jesus was alleged to have been the first to say is rebutted by evidence that leaders of non-Christian religions said them long before Jesus was born.

For several reasons, Jesus was a great man. However, as most citizens of formerly "Christian"Western European nations now accept, that's all Jesus was and it's about time millions of Americans dispense with the "believe on faith"* nonsense that I was taught as a kid.

* You know, as opposed to logic and science.

People of The Way as it gets commonly translated.

Catholics and Orthodox clergy trace their ordinations back to the Apostles.  The early historical records are murky, but there is belief in the tradition that begins in Acts where Judas is replaced to get the number back to 12.  Ironically, it's Pentecost Sunday after which Matthias becomes the new Apostle.  More were needed later, but the tradition begins with Jesus founding a church and choosing 12 (there were hundreds of disciples, but only a few commissioned to lead).  Jesus didn't write a book.  He founded a church.  That's Catholic/Orthodox tradition.

I've got to get to my workout, but the concept that science and faith are not congruent with each other is a false one.   I've explained that before.  And, it was the Church in the West that begat science.  You have heard of universities.  More later, sometime.

It's Catholic doctrine that Creation and Evolution are not incompatible.

Thought I'd mention that since we're delving into the whole faith vs science thing.

And there's not 1 Christian anywhere that merely think Jesus was 'a great man'.  Kinda runs counter to the whole idea of being a Christian.

It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

Tell me more of this Jesus fellow.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I finally listened to all 20 minutes, and there are definitely some mistakes and some things that need clarification before I give my own final verdict. I don’t get the level of all the outrage, though. We have students protesting and calling themselves Hamas terrorists, and the left doesn’t give much of a shit. Then Butker says a few things that sound a bit ‘male world’ dated, and the left wants to crucify him.

The NFL lets rapists, domestic violence assholes and even murderers into the NFL, and they don’t usually issue press releases about their past behavior when they enter the league. I think we’re all tired of the old school male chauvinistic and misogynistic crap from the past. But I also hope we’re all getting tired of seeing people giving passes on some horrendous behavior and then going karen-drama queen over something conservative that’s not even close.

DickNation, yes, you’re all about the dick. But maybe there actually is something you can learn from Jesus, here. Yes, Jesus did have a dick, but he didn’t treat people like a dick. Big difference. Maybe someday you’ll be able to say that you have that in common with him.

So cute to see you try so hard.

But I'm still not going to send you any pics to add to your collection so quit asking.

This does not contradict his point that the institution that is the Catholic Church itself was not founded by Jesus.

While He didn't build any basilicas or formalize offices or organize the Liturgy of the Word on a triennial basis, the Catholic belief shared by others is that the origin of the church begins with Jesus.

The institution which evolved doesn't subsume the church.  The church is not the buildings, offices, hierarchies, laws, etc.  The church is the mystical Body of Christ both triumphant (saints in heaven) and militant (on earth).  Theological not sociological.

Mt 16:18: "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it."  The Greek word for church (ekklēsia) doesn't mean a building.  It refers to a gathering of community.  Jesus wanted a church that is the community of worshippers as the dramatic conversion of Paul in Acts also illustrates. The theology flows from these, but moreover from the whole story of Jesus (rather than simply isolated scripture passages).  After all, the church precedes the Gospels, Acts, and Letters.

So, Roman Catholics, Orthodox, Eastern Rites, and other Christian faiths consider Jesus as the founder of the church.

Who is the college teammate? So far, the source is a poster on TicTok that has zero evidence, no names, no source, nothing. Some sites have taken the accusations down. You might want to do the same if you don't have a credible source other than TicTok or other social media sites.
