Dude, you’ve turned into a grumpy angry intolerant old dude that’s now a religious bigot just because some Catholics interpret the Bible differently from you. Based on Biblical scripture in the New & Old Testament, it is very reasonable that some Christians will interpret the Bible as that Catholic HS does.

That Catholic HS doesn't have its own interpretation of the Bible.  That wouldn't be very catholic.

Sure it does. Not big interpretation differences, but if a Pope suddenly starts quickly moving away from big basic long time beliefs, you’re going to see at least half of the church split off. Some already have.

I've become grumpy and intolerant because I don't agree with the school's intolerance? What a ridiculous statement, even for you.

This is pretty crazy. So you call yourself an American, and you don’t believe in Freedom of Religion. Wow. That’s right out of far left gay activism trash. You’re acting just like the little crybaby protesters at CAL that say if you don’t believe their opinions, then your opinion is hate speech and you’re a bigot. That is you.

I have read the bible....have you? Have you read everything in the book of Leviticus?

Leviticus 3:17 “It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood"

Leviticus 19:27 “Neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.”

Leviticus 19:28 “Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.”

Leviticus 19:19 “Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind.”

Leviticus 19:18 “Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people.”

Reading your posts here, it's clear that you bear a grudge against more than one here, so I'll see you in hell, buddy.

The way Jesus lived his life and his writings are the foundation for Christianity. The writings by other men or collectives of men of this world, while also important, have to be regarded as just that....written by men, interpreted by men, translated and retranslated by men. Men are imperfect and even folks who have virtuous intentions have their own agendas (hidden...even to themselves...or otherwise). Back to the OP, I don't see the school as promoting any lifestyle by allowing a gay couple to marry (especially considering how the church allowed it 9 years later), but rather being tolerant of it. I hope the school takes the same stance on employees who cheat on their spouse, have pre-marital sex, and every other behavior that the church doesn't want to promote, but you know that won't be the case.

Holy crap, I’m certainly no theological expert, but I sure as hell know my Bible 101, especially since I went to a private Lutheran school for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. You’re going to make me do a Sunday school lesson????

Dude, the Bible isn’t an a la carte menu where you can cherry pick what you want and blow off other parts. If you want to do that, do what the Mormons did and write your own custom book that updates the Bible, and you’ll have your own cult.

The Bible as a whole is a sacred document where everything in it is equally legitimate. There’s this thing called the Trinity: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Although men wrote the Bible, the Holy Spirit from God guided them. So it doesn’t sound like you understand its role in this sacred document.

I personally am not big on Catholicism, and the Pope can kiss my ass. The whole concept just blows my mind. I feel the same way about Mormonism, Islam, etc. But I respect their right to believe what they believe as long as it doesn’t become radicalized.

You have to read the whole Bible, and then put it into perspective. That’s means you’re going to see both judgement and the compassion. Jesus came to earth with the intent to focus on saving. Jesus showed a lot of compassion, especially in the Gospel of Luke. But Jesus also made it very clear in John that as the Son of God, he will be judging sin for every one of us, and sin is clearly defined in the Bible, and homosexuality is clearly one of them.

My interpretation of the Bible is that there can be room for them at the table out of love and tolerance. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s ideal to actually promote and encourage. There are grey areas in the Bible, and I think this is one of them. I’m kind of between your opinion and this Catholic HS.

But my opinion doesn’t matter. Freedom of Religion is what matters. You’re against it, and that’s very un-American.

No they pick and choose.  But to be fair Paul  was a homophobe too.  Some of that may be because gay men were often leaders of pagan religions. Look at this link of ancient Mesopotamia religions.  As those religions competed with the Abrahamic religions not really a surprise their leaders were demonized.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Homosexuality_and_religion&wprov=rarw1

Paul was a homophobe? Well, then God is certainly a homophobe with that logic because the holy spirit guided all mortal men that contributed to the Bible.

And so many people have the concept of judgment wrong in the Bible. A few verses get cherry picked, and they’re out of context.

If you read everything in the Bible about judgment, you should conclude something relatively close to this.

1. Do not judge people about going to heaven or hell, especially people you don’t know.

2. For those in your family, close friends, potential spouses and members of your church congregation, judgment on integrity and ethics is essential and must be done. Surrounding yourself with quality people is very important.

3. Do not judge others unless you have your own act together. The hypocrisy of judgment is emphasized in the Bible.

4. Jesus, the Son of God, and God our Father will ultimately judge all of us.

Old butt rockers, smh.

Rob Halford came out of the closet quite a while ago. But recently he’s been touting that he’s a sort of a born again Christian. So good for him.

They have the best live sound of anyone, and still going strong. Halford is about 70 in this video and he sounds better now than he used to.

My comments were in a religious context only. At no time did I say that the school didn't have the right to do what it did, legally speaking. I just think it's a bad look if they're not going to fire all employees who commit a sin in the eyes of the church.

You're an idiot.

There are some things that I lean right on, some things that I lean left on and some things that I fall right in the middle on.....and some where my position has changed over time based on life experiences. I am certainly not anti-LGB. The T is a complex issue that, while I'm not opposed to them living their life, I don't agree that my beliefs and life must change to accommodate them. I have Q's on the Q's, but they are free to live their life as long as they don't Q the way I live my life either.

What... you change your mind about things as you gain life experience and new evidence? The gall you have. Probably think it's OK to destroy code violating fire hydrants too.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Fire hydrants and fire extinguishers, which I'll assume you're referring to here, are things which I can never compromise my standards on! If it's a class K extinguisher in a public venue, it must be destroyed!!!

Dude, when you go to a strict religious school like that at an age where your mind is wide open, you don’t forget what you learned. And was in church regularly all the way through HS. The funny part is that you think you’re some sort of elite intellectual on everything. I’m not an expert on theology, but I absolutely know the basics. 🤣😂

You’re a grumpy old child that has to call people bigots because they don’t agree with you. I’m calling you a religious bigot because you don’t respect Freedom of Religion which is constitutionally protected. And you don’t even understand the Bible, anyway, because you think Jesus is what is most important in the Bible. It’s all important.

You’re having trouble with your reading, I see.  No, I don’t respect the Pope, but I do respect anyone’s right to follow what they want to, including the Pope. My opinion is irrelevant when it comes to who people choose to worship.

Me taking the Bible a la carte? How?

Again, you’re being a big baby. The HS already showed that they were extraordinarily tolerant to a teacher they knew was gay and living with his partner. That was the status quo for many years, and they didn’t fire him. Do you understand that? The HS hasn’t been firing employees for every little sin, you moron.

It was when he went full activist and announced to everyone he was getting married which forced the schools hand because in his job duties, he was in a position to promote the schools beliefs. He challenged them and he knew what would happen.
