I expect Tainamo to enter as well. Take our lumps next year and root for the Kobe Newton’s of the world. It's not Linder burning it down, it's the players who are hitting the road. The Master of bullshit. Them leaving has nothing to do with Linder’s late departure for an assistant job. They are leaving because they were upset that the High Altitude Performance Center is eliminating the pizza station. 1

He knows there isn’t a coach in the country that Wyoming could bring in at this point who could achieve more than single digit wins next year because the portal has largely been emptied of talent and because Wyoming’s entire roster can now enter the portal for the next 30 days (3 have already entered yesterday). Linder will point to Wyoming’s worse record next year to announce to the world that he wasn’t the problem. As you state, the kind of character guy we are better off without for sure. Doubtful he planned it months ago. You’re letting your animosity cloud your judgment about him leaving.

Does the wy-hole's A-Dept have that kind of scratch? Wick is at UW-Green Bay. Different due at BGSU. Green Bay to Wyoming is a promotion, Horizon League to MWC. MAC to MSWC is a lateral move (IMHO). Few other D1 head coaches, if any, would be willing to consider Wyoming at this point in the year. Wicks is a good dude, would energize the donor base and is absolutely a players coach. https://sports.yahoo.com/uwgbs-sundance-wicks-discussions-become-021603788.html He took a 3-29 Wisconsin-Green Bay team and turned them into 18-14. Some concern might be on recruiting ability and connections; but there is no way he could be worse than Linder in that arena.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Agbim and Ihenacho re-commit if Wicks is hired and he retains DeWeese and Vandiver.

phxpoke
I would imagine that university Wisconsin Green Bay fans look at wicks like we do Linder. I’m sure they see it as a dick move on his part. All this moving around is killing the sport. With that said, welcome to Laramie Sundance!

Was looking to have a great next year. Then took a chance on a trio of transfers that didn't fit in, Ike got hurt and things spiraled while he was dealing with his dad dying so he didn't handle things well. Then the landscape changed with NIL and portal and he didn't adjust and we lost all momentum and couldn't get players in due to reputation /lack of NIL/lack of support for team. Think writing was on the wall and don't think he'd be able to pull us out of the spiral. Think originally he was a great fit for us sryle/personality wise but wasn't able to get people to buy in when things were down. All that isn't to defend him. It's his fault but just saying how I saw things. There’s one thing that you mentioned, and unless it’s fixed, it doesn’t matter who you hire, even if they’re a good coach. NIL. Lack of NIL simply means you will always suck until addressed. If your NIL is weak, you’re going to have weak coaching candidates. No one wants to take a job where they’re set up for failure.
