Two questions actually. Is it really happening. Right now it's a twitter rumor. Might not be true. Answer to your question though. If it happens, and Wyoming doesn't collect the full buyout, fire the AD on the spot. That's a hose job, and that's why you put buyouts in the contract. I'd demand it in cash.

But Linder doesn’t leave if he is forced to pay a buyout and I can’t imagine Texas Tech is paying that money for an assistant. Another season of Linder and we are even in a worse spot (if that’s imaginable). So sometime the best solution is divorce with each party paying their own costs. I’m betting on no buyout. Good points but he's leaving Wyo high and dry. Collect the $$ or hire somebody with a backbone. I really, really hope the Wyo AD has one. You just don't set the reputation of being easy to walk on, and if Linder leaves without a buyout then Wyoming becomes a laughing stock. Past performance suggests that your AD ain't that chickenshit. Linder owes the money. Negotiate if he leaves in March. May is way too late to be nice about it.

Linder did not seem to be able to navigate the NIL area very well. Be interesting to see who puts in for the job. Sundance would be a great hire IMO. Just don't hire one of the local Laramie or Cheyenne high school coaches. It's not a matter of navigation. Your Schools Collective either has the jack or they don't. If you don't, you're going to turn over your roster every year. In this era, at the lower end of the MW, you have to find kids with high floors, coming from the lower levels of D1 or the FCS with one or two years left. Make sure they fit your system. A good teaching and in game adjustment Coach could consistently finish mid to upper half of the pack in the MW. Quote "We don't have evidence but, we have lot's of theories." Arguably, SJSU has a more talented roster on paper. This allows us to start building a program rather than another year of a coach just there to cash a paycheck. Wyoming will likely be a single digit win team next year no doubt. But better to take our lumps now.

Even if the entire roster turns over we are probably only looking at a difference of 8 wins vs 12 wins

The guy was worse than a cancer to our program. You should be concerned for your own future, not ours. May take a few years to right the ship (ala Tim Miles at Sheepstate), but he saw the writing on the wall. Wyoming must be in your head 24/7 for you to be the first to post about it. Well done.

The timing sucks of it but in 2 years WYO will be better off for it. This will be especially true if they can get Sundance to be the head coach. Bob
What the +++++, Linder?! Horrible timing. And he's a bitch for giving up to be an ASSISTANT. Not head coaching material, honestly.

I might actually have chosen to have a beer with Dave Christensen over him. But yes - Linder would agree with whatever excuse someone could come up for him. Certainly the first to point fingers at everyone and anything but himself. I've met him, too. I honestly think he is an autist or has Asperger's. Smart, but no people skills. He did a local radio interview today discussing it and revealed that he spoke to Doug Gottlieb last night about the job. https://7220sports.com/who-should-replace-linder-at-wyoming-here-are-some-ideas/
