Longterm it will be a positive for Wyo. After his one flash in the pan year that program has been on the decline. I can very much empathize with coaching turnover. Sucks a lot. 

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Agree with all above.  Good coach, but turned out to be a bad fit.  If true, the timing is complete B.S. for the players but it didn't seem that he was the guy for that job.  I spend a lot of time in Laramie.  I love the town, but I can sure as hell see that it takes a certain personality to want to live there.  Linder couldn't seem to find players with that personality.

Agreed. Wyo is coming off back to back losing seasons. This is probably a good thing.

I think he is a good/very good coach who was doing good things here right away. Got us to the tourney. Was looking to have a great next year. Then took a chance on a trio of transfers that didn't fit in, Ike got hurt and things spiraled while he was dealing with his dad dying so he didn't handle things well. Then the landscape changed with NIL and portal and he didn't adjust and we lost all momentum and couldn't get players in due to reputation /lack of NIL/lack of support for team. 

Think writing was on the wall and don't think he'd be able to pull us out of the spiral. 

Think originally he was a great fit for us sryle/personality wise but wasn't able to get people to buy in when things were down. 

 

All that isn't to defend him. It's his fault but just saying how I saw things.

I sat right behind him at games and had the ‘pleasure’ of meeting him briefly.   I might actually have chosen to have a beer with Dave Christensen over him.  
 

But yes - Linder would agree with whatever excuse someone could come up for him. Certainly the first to point fingers at everyone and anything but himself.

While the timing sucks I think it will be better for WYO in the longer term.  Linder did not seem to be able to navigate the NIL area very well.  Be interesting to see who puts in for the job.  Sundance would be a great hire IMO.  Just don't hire one of the local Laramie or Cheyenne high school coaches.

Wicks would be a home run.  Local guy.  Players love him.  Great with people and boosters.
 

I expect DeWeese gets named interim coach and Wicks is offered the job.
