There definitely needs to be more enforceable rules and penalties for illegal tampering. But honestly, what are the rules? Does any school even care? A few years ago, Cam Rising was being chased down by Florida. He said no. Our AD said it was illegal. He called Florida’s AD and threw a fit. But nothing happened. What is illegal? It seems it’s just a free for all with the inmates running the asylum. I think it just gets worse.

This is something close to 100% of schools do. It’s going to be hard to hold anyone accountable.

I’m personally in favor of NIL as I think it’s well deserved. With the transfer portal, I’m not opposed to it but there has to be some stronger rules and regulations around it. Otherwise college sports needs to go to a full compensation model with enforceable contracts because it will eventually get to the point where star players, even with some of the money schools, are going to switch allegiances if the paycheck is large enough.

What I meant was like a star quarterback for an Alabama or a Michigan going somewhere else in the middle of the season because a Texas or a Florida offer up a ridiculous amount of money.
Spaztecs
This is nothing compared to cycling. Guys are signing contracts for the next season during the Tour de France. There are actually cases of guys taking a pull for their new Team. Oftentimes, Teams will shut said riders down for the season or send them to minor races where their mid season betrayal won't impact their current team Quote "We don't have evidence but, we have lot's of theories." RSF
Personally, I'm ok with keeping a position in the hierarchy of CFB where we can BE a dirtbag.... But the idea of players changing schools in midseason is ludicrous. One of the few things where the NCAA does have some control. 1 Quote It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

TrueAg
Does anything or anyone in this world experience more pain and hurt than B.J. Rains' vagina? This has been going on well before NIL was ever in place. It is just an open market now where those with enough money will try like hell to buy the best roster they can and not a bit of it is against the rules. Nothing will change until some set of "rules" are put in place and even then, it is going to take some serious punishments to be handed down to the "haves" to even have hope that this can be reigned in. Does anyone think that is going to happen? Nope, never has and never will. I've seen lots of discussion about players transferring mid-season for more money or being paid to join teams that have made the playoffs to bolster their roster. Because this is a question of eligibility, the conversation leads to players challenging that they can only play 4 years. Will we see a player (and their agent) eventually challenge that rule and try to continue to play at the collegiate level for as long as they can get paid because it is their best path to making a living? Besides, does B.J. believe BSU doesn't do the exact same thing by going shopping for players at lesser programs?
masterfrog
They probably found out we were tampering with your head coach too. That is why they fired him in the middle of the season before he took the assistant job at TCU.

Years ago when it was much harder to transfer David Collette admitted on a podcast that Utah tampered leading him to transfer. Zero consequences. What can the NCAA do anymore? Also.. the number of tears I have for Boise State having their players illegally poached is zero. 1 Quote There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch. When talking about a player, he basically said "We tried really hard to get him to jump in the transfer portal, but we never could". Not very fun hearing that as a G5 fan for sure...

Cry me a f'n river. This hits every single school, especially the G5 who lack the $$ to keep up. Nothing is done about it, because nothing can be done. We had a player poached by a P4, then they set him to work calling a couple of teammates to try and get them to jump in the portal. You can't break the rules if there are no rules. If you don't enforce the rules, then there are no rules, therefore you can't break them.
RebelAlliance
It's a shame Bob Kustra isn't around. He would be shutting down academic departments and even entire colleges to transfer the money to the NIL fund. That man had his higher education priorities straight.. 1

I'm not saying it's fair or right. Many, not all P4 coaches are on a shorter leash than G5 coaches. They get paid much more, bigger expectations from fans, admin and boosters. Some delusional P4 fanbases want coaches fired after 1 year if you aren't competing for a NC. I think this adds a lot of extra pressure to win now and maybe step on anyone's toes to get there without tougher rules and or enforcement. Nobody except G5 schools are developing young players anymore. It's all about picking the meat off the bone of other schools with your checkbook out.
