There were stories going around that Leon looked around to see if the program could afford to also buy out but the answer was no. The tournament SDSU backed out of was discussed. Boise should be really good next season. Better than they've been. No reason a better tournament wouldn't want them but maybe I'm wrong and no other tournament wanted the Broncos. Leon scheduled up big time last year and still had to go to Dayton. Maybe he said screw that and go for blowout wins like others seem to benefit more from last year. You can't just schedule them, you have to win them. I said this when the bracket came out and was dismissed because I was a "Lobo fan". You get your ticket punched in conference, you earn your seed in OOC. Boise State played a much tougher OOC schedule than New Mexico and most of the losses were on the road to good teams. We beat St. Mary’s and USF both of whom were good teams. We finished third in the MWC beating SDSU twice, New Mexico twice and splitting with CSU and Nevada thus went 6-2 against MWC tournament teams, all of whom got in the main draw except CSU. We were ranked in the top 30 and deserved a better fate than a play in game. Then we had to play CU which had three NBA draft picks yet we were ahead with four minutes to go losing in the end. Lobos had a soft schedule and if they don't win that title game they were going to be left out. They learned from that. This years schedule has a lot more beef to it. You play a soft ooc and there is no room for error. The we played a tough schedule only works if you win your fair share of them.
