Yes!  Follows the format of European soccer.  Great for college football.

Actually, it follows the format of the ill-fated SuperLeague.

And it has the same chance of being implemented, except for a different reason.  Fans killed the Super League.  The lack of interest from the B10/SEC will kill this.

It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

How ?

Only the bottom level teams move up and down. Historical Dogs like Indiana and Vandy stay elevated.

It’s like they were trying to invent a system to further torture non power schools. It will be funny when the G5 teams are gutted after they have a season good enough to move them into that slot in the first place.

That "under league" is a hilarious joke.

How the F does NMSU ever pop up in these fantasy scenarios?   The 'under league' would have to be all G5's IMO.  A mini playoff determines which 1-2 teams go up and if that ever happened the promoted teams would prove to be better than many of the so called super league teams.  That alone makes WSU, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Cal, SMU, etc vote 'no' on any proposal like that where they get relegated.  TV money distribution would go into a big bucket and that means the cash cow programs would vote no on it too.   Dead on arrival.

I heard it is a nonstarter for any of the G5's. Probably never have a home field advantage from the start and the bottomfeeders in the other conferences will never relegate down to a non competitive position=Monopoly.  Might as well split off and have the G5's have their own championship, playoffs and negotiate their own deal. Also no more body bag games if this idea comes to fruition=No money for schools that rely on that income.

That's the plan.

Promotion/relegation would be for the under league only.  So none of those schools would have any concerns.

120 teams are still included I assume you can play any of the 40 teams not in the top 80.

The current model for governing and managing college football is dead.  A "Super League" will happen, just a question of when.  Fan interest is mammoth.  As would the revenue.  The permanent teams would never be in danger of moving down, while the second division would have the incentive of promotion and relegation.   A win win for college football.

Well then it's not pro-rel.  Its just the next money grab for the already rich programs.

As for NMSU there are many G5's left off there that have done good for many years, not just one.  NMSU sucks.

I don’t know about that. I think the G5’s should only agree to this if the ‘permanent teams’ as you put it were also in danger of moving down.

Just feels like the second division is just being kept on a leash, grateful to get a taste. I say let them all go to form their power conferences and they can deal with the headaches of becoming, in essence, developmental leagues for the pros while touting in the same breath they have the student-athletes interests at heart, especially with those cross-country trips mid week during semesters. It’s also going to be hell for whatever sanctioning organization they devise to have to govern this.

Everyone else stays in the NCAA and we sever the tie with them completely. They can go play with themselves.

No idea who this is 'proposed' by but how is this any different than what already exists?

You joke?   How about no NCAA; one national football conference with seven divisions;  regional teams and rivals in the seven divisions.
