Nice. $1.7 million and an option for $2 million at the end. Well deserved.

Now you guys need to figure out the Norvell thing.

Norvell needs to figure out the Norvell thing.  Lots of positive comments from the players coming out of spring camp (go figure) and the team thinks this is going to be a breakout year.  We'll see.

WR#2 was asked to leave the team this weekend after a captain's meeting.  Rumor is that he'd been too injured to practice all spring and was shopping NIL, but nobody actually knows outside of the captains and coaches.  I did find it interesting that the captain's were involved.  I actually think it might be a good thing.  Coaches teach, but players play for each other.  I like the idea that the captains are taking a role in the team makeup.

A good coach will expect good leaders, especially as captains.  Just like all good bosses promote, delegate and build up their employees.

You guys need to beat CU this year. Last season was damn intense.  I cheer for "prime" to lose every game.

Second best coach in the MWC IMO. He’d be above Dutcher if he recruited better. He’s had some very good players, namely Roddy and Stevens, but not enough on one team to win the MWC.

I agree.  Recruiting is an issue.  He was on a good roll till this NIL thing kicked. in.  That's a tough one at CSU or anywhere in the MWC.  It's picking up, but we're quite a ways out from the top teams still.  We were in the final schools for Booth out of Notre Dame till today.  CSU was the perfect landing spot for that kid, but apparently Illinois had deeper pockets.  Dutcher has a huge head start on all of us, inheriting so much from Fisher and then building on it (he's making his bones on Dutcher, not Fisher, don't get me wrong).  It's gonna' be tough for all of us to keep up with the P2.  Really tough.

I think Norvell has a kind of 9-4 ceiling with 7-6’s, 6-7’s mixed in a fair amount. We’ll see. 9-4 and 8-5 would be pretty good considering what CSU has gone through in the last 10 years, but if he does get to that, eventually fans are going to want to get ranked and once in a while be in the NY6 running. I think he needs to reinvent his offense a bit.

A.  I 100% agree with you on his ceiling.  That's exactly why he wasn't my first choice for the hire.  He's moved mountains in turning around the culture of the program (and face it, he started with garbage), and has put a vastly more talented team on the field than he inherited so that's a great move forward.  O-line has been the big issue, and while that is still the issue it is light years better.  Still, that Air Raid offense is not going to overwhelm the MWC or any other conference for that matter.

B.  I didn't expect it, but there is a bit of reinventing going on.  I admire that he has seen the shortfalls and addressed them.  If we're to believe the comments from the players coming out of spring camp (always need to be taken with a grain of salt) CSU will be incorporating a strong running game into the Air Raid this fall.  If so, then maybe we're both wrong about JN's ceiling.  We'll soon see I guess.

That is pretty much every team, everywhere, since the beginning of time.

2-10 teams think they are going to be good before the season starts.

Yeah, that was my point when I said "go figure".  We're all world beaters in April.  However, I'll take it over "we got a shot", or "we're getting there".  Those have been the mantra's coming out of spring camp at CSU lately.  When I talk about JN changing the culture, that's part of what I'm talking about.  We're becoming a player led team with confidence.  I'm not buying that we're going to run the MWC or even finish top 4, I am buying that we finally have a team again that believes in itself.  Literally that's a huge step forward.  Our #1 QB let it slip in an interview that a lot of the team thinks we're ready to "shock the world".   Good for them, but show me.  I can't count the number of times I've heard that, but that count is zero out of spring camp at CSU for way too long.  Just excited with the change in the culture is all.

Still a few more changes in order to build a champion, but I like the start.

The hype is used to sell season tickets. Boise State has the same hype vibe every spring. I’ve learned to cast a jaundiced eye. Last year was typical and then we got steam rolled by UW in the first game. This year the same hype with Oregon as our second game.

With NIL the Ducks are pretty much a semipro team. Tough to compete with the big boys anymore.

We have some really good coaches in this conference. And then we have Fresno.
