OK, I'll make a coaches one too....

Don Coryell, Steve Fisher, Brian Dutcher, Rocky Long (honorable mention: Jim Dietz, Tony Gwynn - not for W-L record as coach, but just for being an awesome dude)

Props for doing so and not forgetting Coach Dietz: https://www.abcahalloffame.org/inductees/2002_dietz_jim?view=bio

Not many know of the guy but he coached the baseball team my entire time at SDSU during which the stadium his team called home was dog poop and word was, Jim's office was in an effing trailer. Dietz also had such a pathetic budget that for most of his tenure, the primary custodian of the team's physical facilities was him. It's pretty tough to win recruiting battles under such circumstances but Coach Dietz did a good job of it and there's zero doubt in my mind that he coached his players up better than his progenies Tony Gwynn and Mark Martinez. May the Aztec gods bless Jim Dietz, the epitome of an Aztec for Life.

DJ was a really solid PG, but he had Kawhi, Billy White, Malcom Thomas, etc. for a supporting cast. X pretty much carried the team his best year, and willed them to a Sweet 16 appearance, which is as far as DJ/Kawhi got too. X had some great teammates as well, but he was the unquestioned star, and also was conf POY in 2013-14.

Yup. Thames shot 37.4% from behind the arc and averaged 17.6 in'13-'14 and he was nails in crunch time when the Aztecs ended Kansas's 68-game home winning streak versus OOC opponents. As good as DJ was, he never had a season to match what X did as a senior.

Yep, I strolled over to stand at "Raggers Rail" many times after class to watch an afternoon game at Smith Field. Mark Grace and Tony's lil' bro Chris were the stars while I was on campus. I wasn't one to lay in to the opposing outfielders, but some of my fellow students were relentless.

Anyways, yep Jim Dietz was legendary for all the painting, raking, light installing, dugout repair work he did over the decades. Not to mention he had some pretty good teams and sent a lot of players to the minors and majors.

He said no coaches. And IMO any football player before 2006 would be like putting William Penn or Sir Walter Raleigh on the USA Mt. Rushmore.

Chris Childs wasn’t the best player on the only BSU team he played on that made the NCAAT. While his NBA success is the biggest I don’t think he makes the BSU Rushmore. I’d put Degenhart above him, and Deggy’s not done yet.

Buzzkill.  It was a lazy approach, but great history is still great history.

UNLV Basketball = Larry Johnson, Armen Gilliam, Shawn Marion - For their NBA careers, but could easily add a few more names

UNLV Football = Randall Cunningham, Mike Thomas, Keenan McCardell - Thomas was NFL Offensive ROY in 1975 when UNLV was a D-II program

UNLV Baseball = Matt Williams, Ryan Ludwick, Bryson Stott (Currently with Phillies & could have a strong career) - Could have added Cecil Fielder, but he was at UNLV only 1 season

Don't forget, Mt. Rushmore has four heads, not three. 😉

I am aware that Thames put up better numbers and thus was a "better" player, but if I could pick one of them to take the last shot in a close game, I'm going with Gay and it's not close.

Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt made up a mean 1-2 WR punch for the St Louis Rams.

I will never forget DeAngelo Williams because he was going at exactly the same time as our best running back, DonTrell Moore, was doing his thing.

What's crazy is that DonTrell Moore's best season yards wise was tied with Williams' third best season. That's how much of a freak Williams was apparently.

I always thought it would be interesting to see them go head to head, but it never happened unfortunately.

Football: Marion Motley, Colin Kaepernick, Trevor Insley

Basketball: Nick Fazekas, Edgar Jones, Jordan Caroline

Baseball: uhhh as much as it’s my favorite sport I don’t watch much college baseball.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Football: Colt Brennan, Ashley Lelie, Isaac Sopoaga, Jason Elam

Basketball: Anthony Carter, Carl English, Bob Nash

W. Volleyball: Robyn Ah Mow, Kim Willoughby, Heather Brown

It's mostly regarding players at college or pros I actually witnessed in my life time (since early 00's) or who I heard about based on them being the school's HC in their sport.

If we are just talking accomplishments at SJSU I’d put Fales over Garcia.

No problem with this. There isn't really a stand out player in basketball like there is in football. I think once Deggie is finished, he'll be that guy. Certainly if he wins in the NCAAs. A POTY would be a cherry, but three 1st team All conference would be big.
