The NCAA spring transfer portal opens next Tuesday for football

But it is only open for two weeks from April 16 thru April 30th.   I'd be very surprised if Boise State brings in anyone during this two week period but I'm sure other MWC teams might be utilizing it.

Equally as important - are there any players that enter the portal during the spring period? Last year, USC poached Wyoming offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon during the spring and he went on to start every game at USC.

Exactly.  Every MW squad should be nervous about poaching during this period.

I'd hardly call choosing to sign someone who has freely entered the transfer portal on his own as an act of poaching.   I think of any player who enters the TP as no longer on the team.  They're history at that point as far as I'm concerned.

Pregnon didn’t decide to enter the portal and then receive an offer…he had money being flashed and then he entered the portal…

My guess is that people involved in this process think of it as poaching, though they would never admit that publicly.

Way too much of that tampering going on, and the NCAA rubber stamps it.  We lost a D lineman to Florida State in this latest round, and they had him calling his old teammates trying to recruit them.  I was sorry to see him go at first, but now it's good riddance.

I plan on seeing a few from CSU after the spring game on 4/20 (please don't start with the 4-20 jokes, I get it).  Anyways, we've got very full receiver and RB rooms that sport some young guns that JN brought in the last two years, as well as some guys on the way this fall that will definitely challenge for playing time.  A few good players know that they have an opportunity elsewhere, and a few decent players probably think the grass will be greener on the other side once the spring game depth chart is finalized.

Pretty sure Broncos are 4-5 or more over the limit on scholarships.  Portal jumping sure seems like it's coming.

Present your proof that JN recruited his old team.  Players don't commit to schools, they commit to coaches.  Why are you dismayed that some followed him to his new gig?  Would it have been illegal for them to contact him to see if they could join him in his new home.  Wrong for him to go after them if they weren't in the portal, but the other way around is perfectly fine and normal.  His side of the story is that is exactly what happened.

You need to get over losing a coach because you lowballed his contract and didn't supply facilities and support that good coaches are looking for.

Haha. You can think what you want and I don’t care if you believe me or not. I don’t make stories up on this board. i find it ironic that you make fun of a system that your coach used to HIS advantage. Which is fine. But acting like Norvell and by extension CSU is above this is flat wrong. My kids knew several players in Park Place who they played with in HS that were talking about him leaving and the best players on Nevada following him, almost a week before it was announced. And If you think Norvell didn’t talk with and align with his coaches and best players before he took the job I don’t know what to tell you. Norvell knows as a black coach he is treated differently,. This was his penultimate f-you to Knuth who just signed a basketball coach for $10m+ but told him he had to win a MWC title before a new contract was coming. So maybe this was justified because he probably did deserve more $$. But hell yes he did his due diligence.

I'm not familiar with this case but IF that was the case did U.S.C. get penalized.  If not then this sounds like nothing but speculation to me.

What in the hell are you talking about.  You talk like their are rules and schools follow them.  Put a + or a - behind the name of every college football players ability to help a team.  If there's a +, he got the numbers BEFORE he went into the portal.  That is 100% the new normal.
