Hockey - Frozen Four and Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread

It's my favorite time of year for sports.  While NCAA football is long over the best tournaments of the year happen in the spring with the NCAA wrestling championships, March Madness, the Frozen Four and the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Frozen Four semi-finals to be held this Thursday with the final this Saturday in St Paul.  I'm hoping for a BU vs BC final as they are much hated rivals with their campuses just a few miles apart.  Could make for an epic matchup.  Also, I can't stand Denver and one natty per year is enough in the case of Michigan.

MIght as well root for a Canadian university team.  Historically, the Pioneer hockey team roster has been majority Canadian players although that has been changing somewhat in recent years.  That said, this years DU team is still over 1/3 Canadian.  Not that there is anything wrong with that.......

Between the growth of the USHL, the USA Hockey National Team Development Program and NCAA hockey American born players have made huge gains in the NHL since 1980.  No thanks to DU Pioneer hockey!

Surprised to see that Michigan got rocked last night, hope the final will be a good game!

I get that the NCAA is trying to give attention to a new division 1 school, but having the regional in Missouri was absolute shit! Crowds were small and boring, I remember going to a regional at Michigan State. What an atmosphere!

Surprised BC lost. Denver was good, but BC had a lot of development program talent. Only team in recent years more disappointing is the Michigan team a few years back.

DU doesn't have football or baseball, so hockey is their big time sport. Lacrosse too.

They've been a power since the mid 1950's  Absolutely a blue blood, and today they're doing it in the toughest conference in college hockey: 7 great programs....and Miami of Ohio.

I watched a replay of the Womens IHF Gold Medal game between Canada and the US. It was an excellent match. 

Not going to spoil it, but the match went into OT and it was an excellent Hockey game.
