Yeah, weird that Gonzaga can’t be a blue blood meanwhile what has UCLA done in the last 25 years that Gonzaga hasn’t? People pretend like some of these programs are still in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s as if that wasn’t more than a generation ago now.

Did you read the list ?

It is current and they have been evaluated at #9.

IMO there are seven blue bloods (ranked according to brand):

1. Duke

2. Kentucky

3. UNC

4. Kansas

5. UCLA

6. UConn

7. Indiana

I think have 6 teams there is totally fine lol. If Villanova can get back to being good they could totally get a few more championships.

I would include Gonzaga in any top 20 list of programs based off their quarter century run.  9 straight sweet sixteens is amazing, blueblood or not.  All their resume is missing is winning the final game of the season, but they have the final four, eight, and sweet sixteen runs to prove they are a powerhouse.  UConn winning 6 championships is a whole other level of performance.  That is an incredible stat.

The Historical list of Elite Eight Appearances. That I have been able to find.

The only data that is relevant in terms of recency is the second column indicating last Elite Eight Appearance.

tOSU - 2012

Hooker U - 2009

Okie State - 2004

Indiana - 2002

Most Elite Eight Appearances

School     Elite Eights    Last Year

Kentucky Wildcats  38  2019

North Carolina Tar Heels  29  2022

Kansas Jayhawks  24  2022

Duke Blue Devils  24  2024

UCLA Bruins  22  2021

Michigan Wolverines  14  2021

Michigan State Spartans  14  2019

Ohio State Buckeyes  14  2012

Villanova Wildcats  14  2018

Kansas State Wildcats  14  2023

Connecticut Huskies  15  2024

Arkansas Razorbacks  12  2022

Indiana Hoosiers  11  2002

Louisville Cardinals  11  2009

Arizona Wildcats  11 2015

Oklahoma State Cowboys  11 2004

Syracuse Orangeman  10 2016

Illinois Illini  10 2024

This is moronic when you look at when some of these "Elite 8's" happened. Anything before like 99-00 is meaningless IMO. And certainly anything before tourney expansion is just goofy. Are we listing all time performance or the best programs right now, today.

I haven't been able to find a more current listing. I will do more research when I get home tonight.

Lool at the last Elite 8 column. That is telling.

I guess so but by that measure Gonzaga has more elite 8 since 2015 than UCLA has since 2000. Truth is UCLA dominated the old tourney, but not since it expanded.

Lol it makes sense an SDSU fan wouldn’t count anything before 2000.

Obviously history isn’t important for measuring the best programs today. But it’s a big part of what makes a blue blood

We are simply making an attempt at identifying dominant programs this Century. Outside of UNLV fans, few place relevance in 20th century Titles. It's fun for past history, but has zero impact now.

USF was dominant post war and faded in the 60's. Indiana was regarded as the cream in the Bobby Knight era. Now, they are just a pedestrian B1G School.

USF didn’t fade in the 60s. They were strong in the late 70s with Bill Cartwright.

UCLA has four Final Four in this Century.

Yeah, they have no business being there.

Yet, they haven’t won a natty in almost 30 years. 1 Natty in the last 50 years. Wooden was the GOAT and all, but..:

While that may be true for basketball, it is definitely untrue for football.  Mid-80s national championships in football are important to most everyone.

Om sorry, but how many Final Fours has your School been to ?

Getting to a FF is a remarkable achievement. Winning a Title, even more so.

I would rather be the Buffalo Bills of the 90's or Vikings of the 70's, than the Detroit Lions.

What does “my school” have anything to do with this? Just admit you’re not right and be humble. It’s OK to be wrong. I often am to. I agree, going to a final four is great, but that’s not the argument

If your measure is "Titles" than I am wrong.

I am measuring Sweet 16's and FF's as part of said success.

Isn’t that the main criteria to becoming a blue blood? Didn’t think that was even debatable

Edit: Just to clarify. My argument was that UCLA shouldn’t even be considered a blue blood anymore. They’ve had 1 Natty in 50 years. You disagreed, because of their 4 final four appearances since 2000. While I agree, that’s a great achievement, it just doesn’t scream blue blood to me. Nattys do.
