A sneak-peek at what $60 million is getting Boise State for their north endzone remodel

Recommended Posts

Boise State doesn’t have the money to build a new stadium and even if they did it’d be five miles out of town. So, it’s continue to patchwork additions a piece at a time. It looks like hell but as long as the seats are filled the AD and school doesn’t care.

I love the stadium, it will look more uniform in the future.

Sdsu is a bad example.

The financing and construction of Snapdragon occurred in a different era. Yes, they needed a new Stadium. No doubt about it. However, back then, the game was about facilities to attract the recruits, drive attendance, etc. Right after, the game changed dramatically. The money became open and the free transfer portal has killed the smaller Schools.

SDSU generating $42.84 per attendee is a false narrative. When you're only attracting 10k per game, you end up with a small gross. Boise at $26.81 per attendee x ~25k per game is bringing in more game day revenue.

Coupled with other financial advantages, Boise has risen to the top of the MW pond.

SDSU nearly doubled ticket revenue between 2022 and 2023. Just stop.

If this was true you wouldn’t have sports at non football playing schools now, including DII, DIII or NAIA, which just isn’t the case.  If anything, the opposite is true, drop football allows for more men’s sports.  Look at the Big West, WCC, big East etc.

additionally, by building snapdragon SDSU greatly increased their game day revenue AND they get rental revenue from pro soccer (MLS, NWSL) pro lacrosse, rugby, international soccer events, concerts etc.  snapdragon was a definite money maker.

tony Altimore put out football revenue for 2022-2023 season.  Boise was quite low.

That game revenue chart seems low across the board.

I'll believe it when they actually start construction.

It kind of sucks for those that could only afford seats in the north end zone as they’ll be replaced by the high rollers. Not sure Id want to pay premium price for an end zone seat.

Who cares what it looks like. Boise fans like it. And it’s used 6/7 times a year.

Been to most of the stadiums in the MW. Nothing personal, but the Broncos stadium kinda sucks. Sightlines are not great and the field has quite a bit of room before the seats start.  Bummer with all the success they have had the stadium doesn't quite match up.

Curious to see it after the renovation.

They ought to tear down the east side and build it back closer to the field with suites and premium seating.  It would easily pay for itself.

That’s hardly premium seating. Why don’t you pull attendance #s of CSU’s vs Wyoming the past decade and get back to me

Or we could compare head to head over the last decade.

More like doubled the price of tickets that resulted in about 10K per game and had to try to do gimmicks near the end of the year to get butts in seats. You're AD and Prez had delusions of a full stadium for every game with long Microbrew lines. With the so called big money that Ardimore (sigh) claims, perhaps you should add some quality shade to that frypan.

You seem upset that SDSU leads the conf is ticket sells revenue. Don’t get bitter, get better.

You're chart isn't about ticket revenue. It's about $ spent per capita at a FB game. Tixx, parking, concessions, etc.

Look again.

You should probably check the link before replying again. There's more then just total revenue info.

Seems bizarre to put premium seating in and end zone. No one wants to watch a football game from the end zone

Love my end zone seats way more fun than sitting with the boring side people. But odd for premium

I like all stadium upgrades. And premium is the hot ticket.  I agree on the sidelines. They had a track for a long time. Boise fans, correct me if I'm wrong but digging down and moving closer to the field was a water table issue?

It almost seems like it would have been easier to start fresh rather than piece together improvements piece by piece which would cost the same amount of money all said and done.  Keep enough seats to keep the games going, then rebuild.

Correct on the water table, its right next to the river.  It's pretty steep too, one of the reasons it traps sound well.  Would not be able to build it that steep with todays codes.  Not that that should preclude them from rebuilding.  I'm sure it is a money issue, don't know all of their budget.  The university grew/moved up too fast.  Academics, academic buildings, etc.  Everything is growing, it just takes years/decades on some fronts.
