Vance Walberg - Clovis West high school head coach.

Scott Garson - Santa Clara assistant

Keith Smart - Arkansas assistant

Ryan Panone - Alabama assistant

Keith Smart looks to be the clear choice.  I don't know much about Vance or Scott, but Keith has a wealth of experience (although mostly pro).

Smart is a good coach. Interesting a HS coach made the final round of interviews. I know nothing about Walberg.

Walberg has a good resume outside of his high school time - former head coach at Pepperdine and an assistant at UMass along with being an NBA assistant with the Nuggets, 76ers, and Kings.

But he is also the oldest of that group at 67 years old. It feels to me like either a local name to appease fans or a potential short-term coach to see what happens the next few years.

Don't know if Smart will still be avail,  if Muss gets the USC job. He may be the next Razorback HC if he doesn't follow Muss.

I would hire Ryan “Chode” Pannone.

Interesting list, Keith Smart seems to be the best option.

Agreed.

Hiring Walberg would be akin to going to the supermarket with a bunch of internet coupons.

Supposedly Walberg is making a big push with a lot of Fresno people of influence vouching for him. Wouldn’t be my choice, but we’ll see.

After SDSU's then-athletic director whiffed on hiring Jeff Tedford, he created a committee of fans and another composed of former players to helpwith his search. The result was the hiring of former SDSU OC Tom Craft who supposedly killed it during interviews before those committees whose members loved him because he was a great OC. In comparison to Chuck Long, Craft's on-field production wasn't bad. However, it wasn't good either and Craft got SDSU into more trouble with the NCAA and the media than any head football coach I can remember.

All these years later, Craft remains a very good JC football coach. However, being a head coach at the FBS level is when the Peter Principle caught up to him and I'm pretty sure the same will be true of Walberg.

Fresno isn't serious about basketball. They should hire Utah State's Athletic department to show them how to find a coach.
