Moving to Vegas

Recommended Posts

Commutes from Henderson can vary over to Meadows Mall - But you being from the PHX area might not fine our commutes as long as what they could be in the PHX area

This map is from east Hendo, out towards Lake Las Vegas & Lake Mead National Rec Area

This would be south Henderson out towards Boulder City

image.png

This would be Southwest Henderson which is a massive growth area of master planned developments - which is pretty much all new in the last 5 years

Corner lot, so no neighbor to one side but a street that shouldn't be busy except when that school is in session

There has been some newer developments in that area - west of MLK Blvd. - To the right MLK is the old "West Side" which was and is predominately African American - LV was segregated back in the day, so this was "across the tracks" and considered "west LV back in the 40's to 60's

It's an older area with a mix of old ranch style larger lots and newer smaller tract houses

The VGK are building an ice arena type of facility on the old lot where the Santa Fe or Texas Station casinos used to be - Now they show as large vacant lots fronting Rancho

Dude, you're giving him some really shitty, shitty advice. That is a total shithole neighborhood. You need a huge buffer north to avoid the crime of Washington and Owens. It used to be that Cheyenne was a good starting point north. Not anymore. Just because a neighborhood looks decent doesn't mean it's safe and hasn't been getting overwhelmed with crime.

Dude, more terrible advice. It depends on the day, but you can be looking 1 to 1.5 hr drive times in rush hour when there's an accident and they happen all the time.

The only place to live that's safe and cheapest is the NW and North as far out as you can.  Just look at the crime maps.

This is a D rated neighborhood for crime.

Here’s a general overview. The cheapest and safest places for a reasonable Meadows commute is the NW and North as can be seen with the dark green. As you can see, the east side is just bad fvcking news. Horrible. Vegas is a violent city in a lot of areas. It’s no joke.

We've already passed on that property. Kids at the school are far too noisy.

People, not a fan.

Her current commute is about 30 minutes. I've warned her about the commute from Henderson. Our "realtor" assured her that the commute isn't so bad. 🙄

The Metro Crime Map is the best because it shows where each crime was committed and is linked to a police report. It’s quite troubling to see so much crime. This map is set to just the last 2 weeks. 248 cars stolen since April 1st. LOL

Good to see you are using new color coded maps these days.

Probably was easier for you when you just used black and brown to highlight what you considered crime areas.

Now she's looking at a new build called Juno Pointe up near Aliante.

Damn, she’s putting in some serious driving. At least Juno Pointe is a good area. Right near the road that goes up to Mt. Charleston which is a short drive and great place to go hiking out of the heat in the summer.
