Moving to Vegas

My wife was just made the new store manager for one of the Las Vegas Dillard's. Moving there the first of May.

My mom, my sister and my grandmother have all worked at Dillard's. My mom and grandma go back to the Diamond's days.

At first glance the housing market in Vegas sucks.

The real issue for us right now is housing. Our oldest son still lives with us. We've decided to keep our house in Phoenix and rent it to him and some kind of roommate. We're hoping the roommate would be his younger brother, but he is pretty hesitant to move back home.

We own. We bought this house a little over 30 years ago for $84K (refinanced a few times since). Current value is $375K.

 

Our current mortgage is $960 a month. A comparable house in Vegas right now would be closer to $2K.

I’d sit down with a realtor and figure out what the rental market looks like for the current home. 
 

Or you could look at Zillow.

Zillow and other comparable sites is where I've gotten my first glance info. I've got some friends in Vegas and they said they'd refer me to a realtor they trust. Looks like right now we'll just get an apartment for 6 months or so. A big thing about this is it's temporary. I'm 6-7 years away from retirement and my wife said she's retire when I do. I'm not going to retire in Vegas.

So this is cool. I gave a 4 week notice this morning. Right before lunch my boss came to me and offered the idea of working from home while in Vegas.

What Dillards location will she be at ?? 

If the Henderson store - Green Valley to Anthem

If the Fashion Show Mall store (on strip) then Henderson to west or NW would be fine 

If the Meadows Mall store - then look west to NW or even SW

if the Downtown Summerlin store - then again Sw to west to NW side of the valley 

Blue dots are the store locations -- area inside red is probably best & newer

Meadows Mall location is the blue dot right by the 95 - Right off the freeway at Decatur & Valley View exits -- then you might look SW - W - NW basically the red arc but stop at the south end where it says ENTERPRISE 

Though if you two are from the PHX area a commute might be your norm ..........the Vegas area about half the size of the PHX area
