Too bad they weren’t carrying and shot his redneck ass.

You seem to know this area semi well.  You mentioned lots of good folks live there.  Why haven’t these pukes been pushed out?  I realize their political mantra is “Free Speech” and they get away with a lot but there’s other ways to push out rotten apples as a community.

The city/ local press conference on this issue came off like a circus ran by Barney Fife. I appreciate them trying to do damage control and apologize but it seems these racist clowns have a free run of the streets.

I don’t know the ins and outs of this area, which is why I’m asking.

I lived and went to my first year of college up in Coeur d’Alene, it’s an exceptionally beautiful area. It’s changed a lot since I was there in the mid 90s and I’d feel confident in saying that more than half the population in the panhandle has moved in from out of state.

The panhandle region has always been an attractive place for recluses and radical extremists due to its close proximity to the border, remoteness, low population density, and non-diverse homogeneity. North of Lewiston, there are basically 5 towns: Coeur d’Alene, Kellogg, Moscow, Post Falls, and Sandpoint. Everything else is just a village. Those 5 towns are all along just two roads, I-90 and US 95. Everything else is basically mountains and forest. There’s also very little industry in that part of the state. Other than Litehouse dressings, Coldwater Creek, and Buck Knives, there’s really only forestry work and service jobs.

While a student, I worked at Senator Dirk Kempthorne’s office as an intern and had to deal with some weird ass nut jobs who would come in and rant endlessly about their grievances with the government. I was trained to keep my hand on the panic button under the reception desk when they came in. That button would alert the CDA police department, state police, and the FBI simultaneously.

With all that said, it’s not like everyone up there wears SS gear and goose steps around the lake.

They were dumb a$$s.  Unfortunately there are a few of those folks everywhere.

They were emboldened ass holes who have creeped out of the shadows due to the political environment that’s existed since 2016. Yeah, it’s a problem everywhere … but it’s more pronounced in the Idaho panhandle.

I realize it doesn’t really matter for the story, but why weren’t they staying in Spokane?

It literally said why in the story.

I have had that happen. Was able to get an apology out of the person without throwing a punch. I try to teach my loved ones self control and used that one instance as a moment to demonstrate. But it was only one instance. Maybe I could repeat it. Maybe not. One thing I do know is the other alternative is very expensive at best.

I envy those that have escaped carnage in life which has allowed their hierarchy of needs to operate in the position where words upset them on such a high level. You are likely fortunate.

Hayden Lake just north of CoeurDAlene was a refuge for the Aryan nation weirdos in the 1970’s-1980’s. They had a compound and were a royal pain in the ass. The leader and most of them were evicted I believe for tax reasons and most moved to Arkansas. However, there were remnants that stuck around and recruited at the local park every weekend.

Every now and then they’d create a disturbance and get thrown in jail. Still, you can’t just tell people they can’t live somewhere if they aren’t breaking the law. Also, it’s not like the locals support them. Most wish they would all leave.

Poor analogy but it’s kind of like homeless people or cults, you can’t just kick them out.

You know what would be sad? If people here told you or anyone else to just suck it up and It doesn’t matter.

What a load of crap. You do know that "words" said in a threatening way, by a group of strangers, in an area you're not familiar with, can literally make a person fear for their life, right? There are laws against that, it doesn't qualify as freedom of speech. and your answer is that they just need to grow a pair. In your little anecdote, what if you weren't there to defend whomever you were defending? Would they have been able to get an apology out of that person? What if they couldn't just "walk away"?

But it is perfectly acceptable for the other group to use the word in every other sentence?

Seriously?  Yah, that's how it works.

Not just with blacks either.  In any ethnic group it's normal to call each other slurs in your own group, that doesn't mean it's ok for someone outside of your group to use that slur.

Should the N word be used so much by prominent blacks in entertainment, I would say, no.  But that's a separate issue and has nothing to do with this thread.

Regardless, obviously if this happened its utterly indefensible, your post is offensive regardless of the veracity of the allegations of the incident.

Listening to the local talk radio today I learned Idaho does have harassment laws and the dude could be jailed. It was indicated the police are investigating and trying to find the guy.

Not being able to walk away is a completely different situation.

But understand. Man. You go ingaging strangers because your feelings are hurt when you have a sensible exit and you are making a tactically unsound decision. Now would you have those weaker than you fail to understand that in your absence?

Self control is far more valuable of a lesson. And who's to say the story is even correct.

The fact that these assholes have avoided federal statutes of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 all these years blows my mind.

My neighbor was locked away in Federal Prison for hate crimes against many races in our neighborhood.

I mean, what do you call racing down Main Street(twice) in a shitbox truck loaded on Meth(likely) with a confederate flag and all it’s glory yelling the N-bomb?

Somehow I don’t think this is the first time Cletus and Bobby Joe have done this.

About 40 witnesses, audio and video along with city officials trying to do damage control after verifying evidence.

Have you seen the video?

We have seen these types of allegations before that turned out to be false. so I'm a little slow to jump on the phuck Idaho train until I see it.  40 witnesses and city officials doing damage control isn't verification of the incident to me.  It's 2024, there is video of everything in a public format like that.

I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I'd want to let the story play out, or see actual video of it before weighing in.

I don’t have video no. But on our local radio there were reports of video and audio involved in the investigation. And there are actually about 100 witnesses. Two teams and their entourages and locals.  That’s going to be pretty rock solid I’d say.  Unless 100 people are all lying.

Also, you would think city officials would be chirping we need to verify these  claims rather than looking for people in an investigation and apologizing.

There’s been cases of false alarms and premature punishments. BYU Volleyball game last year.

But given the consistent problems in this area, I’m leaning towards the scumbags doing it.
