Curious if you have ever been to Monterey Bay Aquarium.  They have one in a big “open ocean” tank.  Interesting species.

I have not. I just looked it up and it looks awesome! Such a cool species. They can survive with huge bites taken out of them.

Yeah fascinating.  If you are a diver Monterrey Bay is an interesting dive though cold.   The Aquarium is right there and fun to see.

Side-note, I freaking love the Monterey Bay Aquarium. My family used to have season passes there when I was a kid.

Yup, all sight fishing too! I was just going to say to @Stealthlobo that he needs to start fly fishing. Not sure which island he’s on, but thr south is the better of the two.  
 

New Zealand isn’t known for their abundance of trout, known for size - average is like 4lbs.

I think I'll have to try it! You and hmhb talk so highly of the hobby. Front runner right now is Wellington, so the very southern tip of the north Island and an ez ferry to the south island for a rental car.

Get a guide for the day, he’ll have all the gear and see if you like it. I think you will, it’s incredibly visual - like hunting but you release the fish.

I do both.  Spin when with my dad or during really hit days or when they are just not at the surface because I +++++ing HATE nymph fishing.  Fly rod is in the hand maybe 70% of the time though

I was tired of the non stop personal attacks and disliked the response it elicited from me, so I blocked HMHB.  To circumvent the block, he used his mod powers to delete what I posted and posted that in its place.  Judging from the fishing thread his behavior appears to be a pattern.
