I just don't think losing Roddie Anderson is a big deal for Boise. He really never did anything to impress me much.

Boise got a much better point guard in Cardenas.

Donks will be fine.

Plus we have Louisiana POY combo guard Lockett coming off redshirt and a true freshman PG Bowie coming in. The real needs are a shooting guard that can play defense to replace Rice, a back up or starting post to replace Martin, and a wing to replace Agbo. If we don’t find a wing or two guard Meadow will move into Agbo’s spot and Keene into Rices spot.

For USU Great Osobor is still visiting some big time programs and is likely gone. Surprisingly, USU has been able to retain most of the key contributors- some that entered the portal. Returning:

Ian Martinez

Mason Falslev

Josh Uduje

Isaac Johnson

This is worlds better than last year and I expect USU to be very very good once again with these pieces returning and what we have incoming.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Sit down and hold on tight.

Lamont Butler just hit the Portal.

I never saw that one coming. Either Nick Boyd threatened his job or someone offered him a boatload of cash.

Damn

It's the boat load of money.

Great situation for the current batch of student athletes... not so sure it's gonna be great for the student athletes who will follow.

My second more reasoned thought is his NBA eval didn't go well and he's looking for some NIL cash.

He got $50k from State and had a Nike contract. Next year the NIL will go up, but not to the level of the P4.

If there is a silver lining SDSU always reloads well.

This is a big loss.

His defense, experience and leadership are irreplaceable.

The Aztecs will be young and inexperienced next year.

According to Mark Ziegler of the UT

Quote

“For us, it’s more of a business decision,” Butler’s father, Lamont Sr., said. “Our family, we sacrificed last year financially, and this year we just weren’t willing to sacrifice again with the opportunities that are before us. We talked and said, ‘We’ve heard the numbers out there, so let’s get in the portal and see how it goes.’”

Butler is believed to have made close to $200,000 from various NIL avenues last season, four times what anyone else on the team did, including all-American forward Jaedon LeDee.

He would have received an increase for this years NIL, plus ~$70k for the Vegas NIL Tourney.

I guess that's not enough in this day and age.

nil. great for the current group of student athletes likely not so great for the SAs of the future.

Per the AM, Parrishes real deal was $200k.

Still better than the ~$100k he would have got at State.

Wow, wow, wow. Lamont’s dad is cut throat.

No.

This is Lamonts last chance to cash in. Estimates are he would make around $300k if he stayed on the Mesa. He got $50k from the NIL foundation. Which will go up next year. $150k in personal endorsements. Nike, local businesses, etc. And a share of the $1 mil NIL Tourney money.

He believes he can do better.

His pop is right. He can make more this year than he can in Europe in two years.
