UNLV Runnin’ Rebel Roster 2024 - 2025

Recommended Posts

Let's go Rebels.  It isn't the NCAA tourney, but a post season tournament is something this program hasn't experienced since 2013.  It is at least a step in the right direction for the program.  It also buys KK another year.  Need to bring in another scorer to help DJ.  Our lack of another scoring threat cost this team a chance to be in the NCAA tourney this year.  That has to be the recruiting priority.  I'm actually excited to see how UNLV comes out for this game.  Gonna be tough.  Have to travel back East.  Play late, and play against a team that has a style no one likes to play.  I guess we kinda get a look at that type of offense with AF, but that doesn't make me feel better as AF kicked our ass in Vegas this year.  A tough draw for the Rebels, but one which if they play their game they should win.

I still remember that NCAA tourney game we played vs Princeton back in the 90's under Bayno. That year Princeton was shockingly a top 10 team, I believe, but still running the same gimmicky offense to complete perfection. They absolutely spanked us. Hope we turn the tables this time.

Yeah they did.  Hope it's a better outcome this time.

It was the lack of giving a shit, right from the first game all through non con that cost unlv.

Hopefully they give a shit here in the NIT, we’ve seen past unlv teams get beat in the nit because they were already checked out.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team has accepted a bid to the National Invitation Tournament and will play a first round game at Princeton on Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT. The matchup, which will be held at Jadwin Gymnasium, will be televised on ESPN+.

The Runnin' Rebels' trip to New Jersey will mark their first game in the NIT since 2009 and first postseason appearance overall since competing in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

The Runnin' Rebels (19-12), who are unseeded in the 32-team event, have won 10 of their last 13 games but fell in overtime in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament to San Diego State, 74-71, on Thursday. UNLV finished in fourth place in the MW this season with a 12-6 mark.

Princeton (24-4) is a No. 2 seed in the NIT after winning the regular-season Ivy League title with a 12-2 record in conference play. The Tigers entered their league tournament on a nine-game win streak but lost to Brown, 90-81, in Saturday's semifinals.

Jadwin Gymnasium, located on Princeton's campus, is a multi-purpose arena opened in 1969 and seats 6,854.

This will mark the 11th all-time appearance in the NIT for UNLV, which has an 8-11 record in the long-running postseason event. In their most-recent NIT game, the Runnin' Rebels lost at Kentucky, 70-60, in the first round played on St. Patrick's Day 2009. UNLV's best showing came during its first appearance in 1980 when it advanced to the semifinals in New York.

UNLV is 3-1 all-time against Princeton. Two of the meetings came in the NCAA Tournament, a 68-56 first-round UNLV win in Salt Lake City in 1984, and a 69-57 first-round UNLV loss in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1998. UNLV also defeated the Tigers, 69-35, at the Thomas & Mack Center on Dec. 19, 1990, and won, 76-66, in the most recent meeting on Dec. 3, 1999, at the Food Lion/MVP Classic in Charlotte.

The winner of the UNLV at Princeton game will face the winner of No. 3 seed Providence vs. Boston College in the second round, which will be held at a location to be determined on either March 23 or 24.

Runnin Rebs vs the Ivy leagues finest.

Crazy UNLV would have won the mworst outright had they grabbed one vs reno and closed out usu at home, or csu or shown up vs afa.

Oh well. Hopefully KK will get his future teams to value early opportunities and show up ready to play vs every opponent.

Seeing some speculation that LuRod might not play, mostly because he deleted his instagram. But of course that may be because he takes so much crap from people and he’s just done with it.

I would love to see them all go play hard and win it all, get a little redemption. But I’m not them.

Would think LouRod would be itching to show scouts what he can do in a postseason setting.

No time to be sour now.

Exactly - Not like LouRod is on any NBA draft boards, so why not play and get another shot at showing what you have

LuRod will never be on any draft boards.  He needed to develop into an elite three point shooter which he’s not.  He also has poor handling and passing ability.

With that said, he’s a plus athlete and defender and can easily make money in Europe.

He would be lucky to be the 12th man for an NBA G-League team.
