When was the last time we had a RED SHIRT on any of our teams on the BB side ?!?!

That used to be a common tool coaches used to get a player in the program & system.........now it's scramble to find bodies to fill a roster & hope you can form the clay into some workable shape

Last year, Jabob Bannarbie.

The more things change the more they stay the same. For all of the talk about it is still all about the best path forward. No matter how people want to phrase it there are still only 2 camps and they are the same 2 for the past decades.

1 Fire the current coach no matter who or what and go out to hire the proverbial big name big dollar guru of the hardwood. This is the 2 to 3 year cycle we’ve been on for the past 15 years or more.

2. Try something different.

Idk, I lost total faith in CKK now. Harper is quiet for a reason. Ultimately the issue is the buyout, 1.5 or 2 million is no small amount. Then there’s the issue of hiring someone.

I’ve said before if you can get a Wade or Bryce Drew, pull the trigger. Though I think we’re looking at a lame duck season and CKK gets the axe next season.

why? sure the season started poorly but once the pieces were in place, the Rebels were tough and made a good run.

To me, Harper being quiet probably means CKK is here for another year.  It's a make or break year of either making the NCAA tourney or looking in another direction for the HC position, a fair expectation after a 4th season at the helm.  So this upcoming portal/HS class and what they accomplish together is CKK's last chance to prove that he's the guy to lead this program.

Dismissal is the weakest form of debate. As usual. Even with everything changing you solution is still the same. Fire the coach, blow it all up in search of the proverbial savior that will want to come here to improve and enhance their career at UNLV a program with next to no redeeming value including this new piece in the puzzle called NIL. Yeah it’s too complex for us old times. Keep on trying to encourage this great conversation that you have been yearning for over the past years with your 1 line dismissals.

Thanks for your introspective point of view.

Pieces weren’t in place? You mean when a guy got a dui right before the first game, another had a bogus waiver excuse, efforts were not there some nights etc. It wasn’t a serious team being coached by a serious coach. The metrics of the team was terrible, even with two exhibition blowouts.

I have zero faith CKK knows what he’s doing. He was given the job based on his name. We’re entering a lame duck season and probably can him at the conclusion of next seasons predictable 17-19 win season.

This fan base is far too negative on Kevin Kruger. His team improved substantially as the season went on and that is not something we usually see with UNLV basketball. We usually get the quick start and fall apart in embarrassing fashion. Unless another coach guaranteed brings several million dollars in NIL, let's cook with Kruger. Consistency is what is lacking in UNLV athletics.

The NIL fund brought in Dedan and we saw what CKK did with that. Great coach.

I notice how you don’t speak of the teams metrics under CKK this past season even though on paper this was the best roster he’s assembled. Why’s that?

You can't be this naive to think that simply ousting KK for another guy will change the reality that UNLV is a middling mid major with a limited NIL

You just said the UNLV NIL is the issue then turn around and scream about a coaching change -- Really? What coach is going to step into a program where the NIL is slim pickings ?!?!

Yes, coaching change. What is the point of delaying the inevitable one year? Why waste a season? He won’t be able to construct and assemble a good roster that is getting blown up that can win now, especially now without DT. Kruger has proven in his first three seasons at the helm going the ‘win now’ route with assembling the roster that he can’t do it so what makes you think he’ll be able to all of a sudden do it with another? The only reason to keep him that you can’t afford the buyout right now and it becomes, as rosegreen has said, a lame duck season.

Without a doubt there are plenty of good coaches coming up through the ranks that would step into the program regardless of the NIL collective status. The thing is that we don’t have to go after a ‘lifer’ or one with a history with the program. That history is dead, btw.. long gone in the past. The hungrier the better, even if he’s the car salesman type but can motivate his players to succeed, that will win even if he’s using us and is gone in a few seasons. With our lack of NIL support that is the lot of this program now in the current state of college sports. The days of coaches bolting or being fired every 2-4 seasons are going to continue whether we want them to or not.

He’ll get another season likely giving the timing of everything and money.

To be clear, it’ll be a lame duck season. He’s not a serious coach.

He won’t. The only reason anyone was ok with a 4th year is leaving for greener pastures.

No need for me to comment about all of those metrics. You have them down so well.  We are going into year 4 when year 2 was going to be his last season. I’m just enjoying the pain of all of those whose haven’t contributed a dime to the program bitching about the lack of resources within the program. Like I already said, new year same story. Some people only know, Fire the Coach, no matter what is happening. I’m happy to finally see a new path and the possibility of where it may lead, ir regarding if CKK is part of that future.

Is he? Where is confirmation of that. I would say that most of the conversation is wishful thinking to advance an objective. Some just grasping at straws that somehow CKK will still be fired.

Who is bitching about the lack of resources? My contention has been NIL isn’t the reason we’re constantly spinning our wheels.

Like Maiava, it is a process. I don’t think Houston’s PG has announced his intention to go pro yet.

At some point what is on paper and what the results are have to be aligned. Meaning, we’ve underachieved for 3 seasons now.
