Spaztecs
The first stage of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya was a cliff hanger. Nick Schultz attacked from on kilometer out and it looked as if he had stolen a march. Then Pogacar hit the gas with 300 meters to go and came within a bike length of catching him. The last 100 meters semed to take forever for Schultz to get to the line Post race, Schultz admitted that had he had to go three meters further, he would have lost. 1 Quote "We don't have evidence but, we have lot's of theories." I have only seen one partial startlist for Catalunya. Sepp Kuss, Tadej Pogacar, Joao Almeida, Simon Yates, Quinn Simmons, Christian Rodriguez, Andreas Kroon, are confirmed. thelawlorfaithful
Boise’s own Matteo Jorgenson does it again! Normally I wouldn’t care about Dwars door Vlaanderan (which I think means something something Flanders). But an American just won this classic for the first time. After already winning Paris Nice the kid has a good shot at winning America’s first monument ever at Flanders next week. This is partly due to a horrible crash in the middle of the race. Many big names gunning for these spring classics were taken out including Matteo’s leader Wout Van Aert. Wout’s done for months. Visma has to scramble to find a new plan going forward. And Matteo is looking like the most likely candidate to lead in the spring classics. 1 Quote We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. Spaztecs
Good News for us Cycling fans. The Tour of the Basque Country is available on Max. It's my second favorite Stage Race of the season The quickest way to access their cycling content is to use the search feature and type in cycling. If you go through the Sports Menu, it is buried deep, deep within the belly of the earth. Apparently Max has a contract with Eurosport and they are carrying most of the Pro Series Races. Live and replay capabilities. GP Miguel Indurain, Volta Limburg, even replays of the RCS races. Upcoming live broadcasts of the Basque Country and Tour of the Alps. 1 Quote "We don't have evidence but, we have lot's of theories." McNulty wins the Indurain race against a pretty weak field. The Basque Country will field the first showdown between Jonas, Remco, and Roglic. It’s mountainous but there are no long decisive climbs that would favor Jonas. We’ll see if he can punch as well as he can lay the hammer down in July. 2 Quote We’re all sitting in the dugout. bsu_alum9
Anybody here bikepack? Stumbled across this race that sounded pretty fun. ~450 miles starts and ends in Boise going through some pretty sweet areas. Almost no pavement. Unsupported (no crew allowed) but stores for ressupply on the way. https://smokenfire420.wordpress.com/ https://bikepacking.com/routes/idaho-smoke-n-fire-400/

thelawlorfaithful
Mathieu Van der Poel crushes the field to tie the record of 3 wins at the Tour of Flanders. MVdP continued his spring rampage by going solo 40 km from the finish up the vaunted rain soaked Koppenberg. Amongst the leaders only three could get up it without dismounting. Matteo was the last that could follow but before long the leash snapped and the reigning World Champion disappeared from sight cementing his status as current king of the Spring Classics. Flanders is thought by many to be the best race of the year. The hills with awesome names combined with the cobblestones and bad weather always make for aggressive racing. The field wasn’t as strong as it should be due to the awful crash last week. But it was still exciting until MVdP put his foot down. Cycling Holy Week has begun. The eyes of the cycling world turn toward the showdown in the Basque Country and whether or not MVdP can pull off the double in Roubaix. Quote We’re all sitting in the dugout.
